One of my friends has one of those. He's says they're great.
I'm turning 50 around the same time and I hope I don't get any "gag" gifts. That's as annoying as getting a shirt from Santa instead of a toy, when you are a kid. 50 is a big deal. Save the beer bong with the hidden hole in the bottom for somebody else. You've had your entire life to find out what your dad likes. Get him a nice item that fits his interests, a new putter, fishing rod, pair of running shoes, good bottle of wine, book about one of his heroes, tickets to a game you go to with him, etc.
My dad lived a long time past 50, but those years went by so fast and he had some serious health problems in the later years. I wished I did more with him before that, such as when he was 50.
Family pictures, good idea along with the gift.

Sure...your friend! LOL!
I just turned 50 a few months ago. I HATE getting gifts. It just bugs me. Gag gifts, however, are great! The meaner - the better. The gang at work got me a walker with a basket and a bike horn on it. They also got me a yellow safety vest that had all sorts of stuff on it. Signs like "Dangerous Gas Zone Ahead", "Warning - Falling Arches" and other stuff. I thought it was great. If your Pop has a sense of humor - he'll appreciate it.
I just turned 50. My son took me to the Boston Indoor Games. We had a great time spending time together. He had to listen to me talk track!

WTFever fred. He ordered it online and showed it to me before he used it one day. Why do you have to be such an arrogant prick to everyone. You're suck a dork!!!
TDF has it right. Go spend a day with him. Movie, fishing, monster truck rally, it really doesn't matter. It might seem like a bore to you, but he will love spending time with you regadless of what or where. My son is 18 and I can feel the time creeping away. Any time spent with you will be an awesome gift. Like others said, save the jokes for another time.
been there done that. wrote:

Wrong, Pre worship is largely a phenomenon of the generation after Pre. Back in 1975, Pre's death was largely regarded as the result of a poor decision by a volatile young man. The elevation to pantheon status came later. He was cocky, and that appealed to some--much like Muhammad Ali's cockiness--but it also put a lot of people off. It's all easier to overlook now that he's dead and you don't have to wade through the arrogance (or was it really insecurity?) to appreciate the accomplishments.
I can't spend a day with him since I live in Arizona and he lives up in Wisconsin. I need something good I can mail/have sent there.
I just turned 50 last Friday and ran a marathon on Saturday in Death Valley. Sign him up for a race if he's into that.
