He meant "whether you agree..."
Keep Jack Daniels in every city in America.
What about the profits from the sales of his book?
If you are a pro runner that is being coached by Jack, I hope you are paying him.

are there any pro runners coached by him besides Ilsa?
What's the point of 'keeping' him in Flagstaff?
I was under the impression he coached magdalena lewy boulet. Correct me if that is wrong.
It's not for him, that's for sure. He can make good money wherever he goes. Perhaps folks are thinking of the "sport" more than the icon...yet failing to realize it.
Jack makes less than $1 a book. Although big in the running community, he’s not making much off the book. And I’m sure their medical bills are high.
How about international stint ? Once Jack was coaching in Peru .While US is folding down many programs , other countries are investing , including altitude centers.
Morocco’s King Mohammed VI announced an investment of 88 millions of dirhams (8 million euro) to order to create an Athletics Academy in Ilfrane.
The city of Ifrane, located at 1650 metres altitude, is annually visited by many endurance athletes from home and abroad seeking to train in its rarefied atmosphere.
The academy, 13.500 sqm in size, which will be named, the Mohammed V International Academy, in honour of the present sovereign’s father, is intended to cater for foreign athletes as well as to promoting and assisting national sporting fortunes.
Another five training centres for athletics are envisaged in Morocco and will be established in the towns of El Haouz, Benguérir, Benslimane, Khémisset and Khénifra.
Do go on, what would be the impact on the "sport" if Daniels were 'kept' in Flagstaff?
Call me stingy, but supporting one of the most well known coaches in our sport is not my highest priority in these tough times. The guy has great credentials, is a well known speaker/author/coach, and if he has to go elsewhere for his job, so be it. I'm all for helping others out in tough times, but I would rather help people who don't have the means that he does- like people using local food shelves, shelters, etc. Dr Daniels is a smart, extremely well educated and qualified professional- I highly doubt he needs our charity, and he can certainly correct that impression if I am wrong.
Jack needs to "just say no" to free advice. Jack needs to charge for his expertise. That means everyone but especially the professionals that he coaches.

I have no insight into his arrangements with the various athletes he coaches and I've never met the man in person. From the interviews I've heard with him, I get the impression that he's as much the student as he is the instructor in his various capacities. That's not to say that he shouldn't be compensated for his efforts, but my impression is that his quest for knowledge is far greater than his quest for a fat paycheck.
It is not a matter of a fat paycheck. It is a matter of treating Jack like he deserves and compensating him for his time with more than homemade cookies. There is a link on the front page that makes Jack sound like a charity (almost telethon) case. That is ridiculous.
Jack doesn't need the "running communities" help. He simply needs to be paid by those that are receiving his guidance. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Closer to his wife's oncologist, his youngest daughter is still in high school, and he's in an area of high altitude so he has access to more elite runners, not to mention he could continue his work for the local recreatinal runners
Magdalena Lewy-Boulet should be paying Jack Daniels $200 a month, minimum. So should the other athletes.
Jack is a really nice guy. I brought him to speak at our clinic last summer...he gets 1500 dollars for a 3 hour talk. Pretty good rate. Hopefully he will be able to nail down more speaking engagments.
Right, he's able-bodied and well-educated, no reason he can't GET A FRIKKIN JOB to support his family if he's hurting for dough. It's nobody else's problem if that job happens to be somewhere other than Fagstaff. Just like the deals with Alicia Shay and Billy Nelson's cousins trying to get to China, I don't get why people go around begging for money for people who have the ability to earn a good living on their own. AIDS orphans, destitute cancer patients, people who have lost their homes and/or livelihoods to natural disasters, impoverished famine victims, stuff like that is infinitely more worthy of charitable contributions. Sometimes the self-importance and lack of perspective from people in this sport make me want to puke.
