Live 25-30 min away and never heard of the place. Interesting. Let me know how it is...
I've eaten at Bub's BBQ near UMass. Good stuff.

If you are a student, it seems reading comprehension is a subject you should work on.
Yes, absolutely!
I ate a bag lunch from home in the parking lot of the place in order to strengthen my financial resolve. In case you really wanted to know if the food was good, even though that wasn't what you asked, it was. I had an MLT, where the mutton was nice and lean and the tomato was ripe.
You can expect meat. Texas BBQ is typically beef brisket and pork sausage slow cooked over mesquite (ironically, mesquite is a non-native invasive species in Texas). You will get bbq sauce on the side to pour over your food and a big piece of white bread to sop up the meat. The bbq sauce is thinner than KC or deep south bbq sauce and a bit more smokey than sweet. The beef brisket is pretty fatty, but people like it that way.
Joe's is huge and has all sorts of other meats on the menu. But, if you want the real Texas BBQ experience, you should try the brisket and sausage. Don't worry, the place is clean and not some e-coli shack.
People will argue about which place has the best Texas bbq. I really can't help you there.

If you are suggesting that I did not answer the OP's question, then I say "right back at ya!" People who live in glass houses....

You are describing German-style Texas BBQ which Joe's may be...I've never eaten there. However, that would not be representative of all Texas BBQ. Much of Houston and East Texas has it's roots in Southern-style BBQ which comes from the Black communities and typically has a sweeter glaze on the meat. It is also more commonly cooked over hickory or oak. Pork is more popular with East Texas BBQ while beef is king in Central Texas (German) BBQ.
I am impressed john and tex. Someone on letsrun actually has a clue about what they are talking about. Nice assesment. Try a beer in the butt chicken, falls off the bone.

Thanks, this is what I wanted to confirm. I usually like the small shacks or taking a chance on something, it's just that I have no choice to eye ball the place in this case and wanted a little recon.
The web site looks pretty good, so I am officially looking forward to stuffing my face with brisket and sausage.
A it of a push to infer Classic Letsrun lives in such an unique abode.
My might expect to meet Nolan Ryan, it is one of his favorite places to eat.
It will give you the shits.

I had bbq in Austin and it was representative of what John Dingleberries described. I prefer the memphis dry followed by sloppy, sweet, and wet, but the "German style Texas BBQ" was very good.
No cruising for gay partners on letsrun.com please. The Good Book says homosexuality is a sin.
All I know about Alvin, Texas is that it's Nolan Ryan's hometown. And I bet Alvin could beat up Seymour, Indiana, John Mellencamp's hometown. And I bet Ryan could beat up Mellencamp. And I bet ...
