Unimpressive. It's High School. Now, if she combines that with a great SAT or ACT score (1350+ or 30+) then I'll hand it to her.
Kudos for her not being a dumb though.

... What are you talking about? The fact that she did very well in a college level course (AP Calculus BC) as a freshman.. that is way better than a 1350 (by the way, SATs are out of 2400 now).. actually 1350 is pretty low..
UCLA is the 2nd greatest track and field school in the world, USC is the greatest, and both are situated within the city limits of the undisputed Track and Field Capitol of the World, Los Angeles. UCLA has the Hollywood glitter and glitz. UCLA (and Cal) have the two most diverse and socially integrated student bodies in the continental United States. Head track and field coach and U.S. Olympic Gold medalist Jeanette Bolden refers to this as the "unique UCLA student life and campus experience". Jordan should add UCLA to her list of considerations.
Yea except she'd have no training partners there.
she has no training partners now and made the olympic trials finals. i'm sure ato, mo, kerron, shawn, jeanette, monique, joanna, dawn, felix, allyson and other l.a. olympic medalists can find her a group of ethiopian and kenyan girls her own age in the west l.a. / w2estwood area to train with. it won't do any good for jordan to train with u.s. college kids, not at her age and her advanced level.
what universe are you people from? if 21,000 get 5's on the calculus bc (there are probably 5-10 million students in high school at any given time, so this is a tiny percentage of students taking the test and doing so well), then there would be probably well under 1,000 freshmen on the list. It's not going to be 5250 or a quarter and in fact there are very few students who will get to take calculus prior to senior year. They didn't even offer calculus at my high school. and then there is the 1350 isn't a good score. well, 1350 (out of 1600), prior to the raising of the mean back in the mid-1990s, would get you in the high 90s in percentile nationally and right about 50th percentile, or close to that, for virtually all the top schools in the country, aside from maybe Harvard, MIT, and Caltech.
She could train with Kendra Schaaf, Christine Babcock, Mel Lawrence etc at Washington.
she can train with Gits at Stanford too. but at her level she should go to school for the academics and campus life and train with outsiders. Rupp, Allyson Felix, Ritz, Webb were all at the same level at their age. none of the colleges today have any kids who were better than her at her age. it would be a let down for her to train with any current college team.
Cut the crap!
At 99% of the schools in America, 4.0 is the GPA scale regular classes and 5.0 for honors and AP courses. 4.83 is very impressive and 99% of the colleges in America, grades, class rank and GPA are very-very important. Success in honors/AP courses 'generally' means success on the SAT/ACT, therefore I assume Jordan's scores will be commensurate with her GPA, which means her her pick of universities notwithstanding the fact she came with hair of making the U.S. Olympic Team.
And getting an “A” in AP Calculus is no trivial matter even for kids that want to major in math or engineering.
Jordan congrats on your Footlocker and ‘academic’ victory!
grades wasn't my issue, but since you dragged me into it...
i enrolled two of my kids at a local community college when they hit the 10th grade because the community college where we live has actual MS and Ph.D professors in the sciences. our high school does not.

... so you're saying that the entire city is itself a legislative building that houses the governing body of Track and Field?

Our top girl from high school found out she got into Stanford on early decision today.. she runs 5:01, but I don't think that's good enough to get recruited by Stanford. So she got in off of grades and extracurriculars. She is considering Stanford seriously now and might try to walk on to the team, her other top choice is Princeton.
Another person had a 4.7 GPA and a 2400 SAT, and got rejected from Stanford on early decision.
Stanford is so random.
My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. My safety's Harvard.
You took A-levels then? I assume you went to an IB program?
My school didn't rank. or weight. we had grades one through six.
her other top choice is Princeton.I think it's clear she prefers PAC-10 schools. USC, Cal, Stanford, and UCLA are 1) the top athletic programs in the NCAA, 2) world class institutions, and 3) rank at the top academically in the world in hundreds of different fields. Most notably USC and UCLA are the top track and field schools in the world.

I don\'t know or care about calc BC, but you should take either relatively or probably out of your assertion of her running talent compared to yours. She is WAY relatively faster than you for girl vs. guy, and in fact might be/is almost literally faster than you.
ok, i dont exactly want to argue, but i'll bite. my 16:40 was junior year, i was injured all of sr xc season (ran first meet in 17 flat on a really hot day, then sat out the entire season). in track i ran a 9:36 3200m. so ya, still way faster relatively for a girl, but no way could she beat me in any event 800-10k. by the way i've also broken 2 in the 800 (open).
but like i said, shes still way faster than me for a girl and yes, you can get rid of "probably" in my original statement.
Plato said in The Republic that if you're smart in math you're likely smart in most other things. I don't know if I completely agree with him on that but there is a lot to it.
In our society today, math is standardized and can be tought in a very counter productive way for those who might otherwise excel while benefitting those who know when and how to plug and chug. Although, true mathmeticians have ussually been artists and brilliant in many ways. Just a rambling thought.

More on topic, High school GPA doesn't mean a f**king thing. high schools are under pressure to churn out results and frequently inflate grades worse than the ivies.

If it was Early Decision, isn't she *required* to attend Stanford? Don't you agree, if accepted Early Decision, to withdraw all your other applications?
Further:
There was a lot wrong with my high school, but I liked the way they handled GPA. Every kind of A was a 4; every kind of B was a 3; etc. All courses counted equally, including gym and driver ed.
When my sister graduated with a 4.0, there were no questions: she got an A (or A- or A+, but *some* kind of A) in everything she took.
