..of course nike has, it's called progress
..of course nike has, it's called progress
yes it has
Fun to look back at this. Nike is selfish
The didn't ruin it but by dividing the talent, we now have two watered down championships that end up proving nothing.
Kind of like wearing two watches. You never really know what time it is.
And now the guessing game:
who was the best runner... the world may never know...

why do u guys talk crap on nxn i won it last year how about you get out their and run see if you can run a 15.20 im at syracuse full ride from what i ran at nxn college coaches go to this meet more then foot locker now
Haha.
If you were a senior in HS and wanted to attend a Nike sponsored school (even as a walk-on), wouldn't it be in your best interest to compete at NXN, since many of the coaches of those schools will attend the meet?
This is no different than what's going on in HS basketball, with most of the top players going to Nike/Jordan sponsored events.
I know in XC times are supposedly irrelevant, but because tens of thousands of runners have run on the various Footlocker regional and national courses over the years, a coach knows very well what it is worth.
If you run 16:00 or so at Footlocker South for example, you are probably walk-on material at most D1 programs. Run 15:20 or better, you may get some money. Your placing isn't as big of an issue because some years are stronger or weaker than others, but your time against the history of the meet means a lot.
At NXN, many years the times are butt-slow. Might not mater as much if you finish top-10, but 30th might be 17:00 one year and 15:30 the next. You are rolling the dice as a mid-pack guy by trying to make a name for yourself at NXN.

You can't possibly be this stupid. 17:00 for 30th at NXN? Come on.
Lol. Some years 17:09 is the WINNING time. Maybe the new course makes things more consistent, who knows. And he's right, some years 17:00 has been around 30th place. Check the results before calling someone stupid.
He's not stupid, check out nxn 2012. Some years, some guys would barely break 16 due to muddy conditions. "You can't possibly be this stupid". Hah, scrub, you just got r3kt. You can't even consider factors that make times that slow, which shows how ignorant and stupid you are. I got your back lenny. Peace out
Totally agree with comments from Guppy.
I think those saying travel cost does not keep runners away from Footlocker are full of it. My daughter chose the NXN qualifier because it was almost half the distance as the Footlocker qualifier which was over 800 miles away. It turned out that the NXR Northwest was very competitive this year. When it came time to decide about Food Locker we chose retaking SAT instead because of the cost and because we felt the chance for more academic aid was more important than more exposure.
I hope my kids make it to Footlocker.
Saying that you ran in the FL finals is legendary.
Saying you attended NXN doesn't convey anything.

In general, few people know what either of those two events mean.
2 points:
1) Also have been to both. NXN is good for the team kids but the individual qualifiers are treated like step children. FL was WAAAYYY better for the kids.
2) In Virginia/SouthEast, FL South and NXN SE are on the same day so kids are prevented from qualifying for both which is ashamed. The FL South Team would have looked a lot different had the race been on the previous Saturday. Rumor has it that the FL and NXN adults (?) in the South are acting as children; they do not like each other and are unwilling to move their respective race. It appears that Nike is the bully in this because FL had first dibs on race-day Saturday. The kicker is that the previous Saturday is open for all States, i.e., each state has already run their state championship. Phil Knight (CEO of Nike) and Richard Johnson (CEO of Footlocker) would most likely be upset if they discovered that kids are prevented from running in their event because of this issue...if one organization would move their race up one week, both would benefit from having more runners at their race, goodwill and exposure. Makes too much sense...
