Bobby Curtis just ran 28.06 for a 10000m in Australia just now.
Aussie NAU runner David Mcniell won in 28.02

56s last lap for McNeill after Curtis got a gap temporarily with a few kms to go.
gregson on the sidelines at the moment should be back in a couple of weeks to running, mcneill is a superstar. should ALMOST be able to go with rupp over 10 in a match race. would be incredible to watch NCAA
great strength for Curtis. If he stays healthy he should challenge for a place on the world team at 5000m this summer. Going to work with Bideau was the best thing that could have happened to Bobby's running
At 3 km they were going 28.20 pace. With some decent pacemaking mcNeil would more than be capable of sub 28. His 56 closer is testiment to how fresh he was regardless.
That puts McNeil 16th on the Australian all time list, just behind Rob DeCastella.
Altitude agrees with him. Though I don't know how he got out of his finals to go home so early.
Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So either some guys at NC Cross are in awesome shapre - or McNeil did not perform up to scratch there.
Have you ever heard of taking the exams earlier?!?
Is that faster than McDougal's PR? Aww snap, looks like McDougie better watch out for this up and comer. Curtis just has more raw talent than McDougal. He didn't have to run the ultra high mileage since early teen years to get that 28:06. Whereas McDougal is maxed out and has been running very high mileage for a long, long time now.
drugs
Gregson didn't run last night, but another junior ran 3.42 in the 1500m for 3rd place.
By junior I mean athlete U20 on dec 31st not 3rd yr uni...we just say 3rd yr uni here

So close to a sub-28:00. He's got to be bummed.
Bobby curtis ran 13:2x low 5k last year so that is equivelent of 27:50 or 45. but it is way early in the year.
It was the national championship though, they went out too slow for sub 28. Both McNeil and Curtis are in better than 28min shape.
Great performance.
Imagine what Rupp would have run in this race... he did win Zatopek a couple of years back.. If I am not mistaken, McNeill was a disappointing 13th at NCAA Cross, correct?
Wow, 12 NCAA guys fitter than a 28:02 performer.
