To clear some things up.
Yes we all read into the wild. But this is different. It never actually crossed our minds.
This all started by watching super size me and our prof. asking us will we make a change in this world. Our goal is not to call and ask money from mommy and daddy. But being honest with everyone if it comes to that point of course we will take that out.
We are turning this into a project. We will right a research paper and film about this. Looking at the U.S right now everyone is losing jobs and so many ppl are losing there houses. My parents both are going to end up losing there jobs if ford cuts more jobs here in michigan. So it kind of hit us. Everyone tells homeless people. Go get a job. But how hard is it to get a job with no shower. No shaving. No house. Also look at the point of no health insurance. We want to drift around and see if it is possible to get a job. Live and make it then move around. Interview people. And to get on tape how bad ppl do treat homeless people without actually knowing there real story and if law enforcement and food shelters are working or not. Who knows what we will find. Maybe this will be a piece of cake and all the data will show is homeless ppl are just to lazy to get a job. Great data is our goal so to say.
Thanks for the help so far. Esp. The first one about the camera and saving it to a flash drive. Going to look into that.
Well if you want credit, you'll have to WRITE a research paper instead of RIGHTing one.

You are not qualified to write a research paper of any kind.
why don't you just read that shitty book, 'nickel and dimed,' and save yourself a few months of boredom and the trouble of 'righting' about it.
damn, that got jumped on faster than i thought!
good luck wrote:

Yes you are right*. But a little slack would be loved. I am trying to finish up several exam papers and am running on very little sleep.( as everyone in college right now taking finals is going through lol ) I messed up one word. Where as a research paper, which i have wrote before, would be proof read many of times before being asked to be published.
Im going to say that this does kind of sound interesting. If its something you and your friends really want to do go for it. Good luck man. Keep us updated as im sure there are more out there thinking the same as me.
Hey man,
This book was posted in another thread, but I figure you might be interested. His story sounds kind of similar to yours- college grad and the like. His whole idea was to see if he could make it for a year and sustain himself, but only starting with 25 dollars in his pocket. I've not read it but the idea is intriguing.

Also, the americas route sounds interesting. I have a buddy teaching english there and it's really something else.
let us know how it goes!

Have written before...
I'm in college too so playing that card is rather lame. Regardless, I think your idea is pretty cool. I don't think I'd have the balls to really do it, but I'd love to do something similar in Europe after I graduate. No writing papers about it for me though.
Want to travel the country? Fine.
Want to sleep out under the stars out West? Great.
Want to hang out with your buds on a cross country trip? Awesome.
Just don't think you're doing anything that will be worthwhile or innovative. If you spend too much time with homeless guys with your fancy college-boy clothes and video cameras, you're going to get jacked up. Want to know why they're homeless? They're addicted to drugs, alcohol, or have mental issues.
Sure, some might be lazy. Others might've had a string of bad luck. But the vast majority are looking for their next fix or can't cope with the "real world" due to mental problems. "Well let's just build more rehab centers," you might say. Not so simple. You'll find that most of these guys don't want help. It's sad to say, but it's true.
You're not going to "fix" anything or find out anything new or interesting. You're going to put yourself in danger for no real reason at all.
I can think of better ways to spend a summer vacation.
Are you f*cking serious man?
Do you honestly think that all homeless people out there are just looking for a fix? and that is why they are homeless. So many americans right now are losing there jobs and losing there houses and cant find work. Hell on CNN the other day they interviewed a guy who worked in NYC at a nice company making good money with a college degree. And the company went under and lost everything thanks to how great the stock market is ( thank you bush ) and he was homeless on the street. Lost his house. Living at a shelter lost his family. But he was only looking for a fix?! The 700 billion buy out is a start. But like the kid said. If the car companys dont get 25 billion there is going to be 2 million jobs lost. And that will lead to them losing there house and not finding a job. But they ended up homeless bc they were drunks?! No bc there companys went under and they cant afford there mortgages.
More power the the kid doing this. Its ppl like this asshole he is doing it for. Who are stereotyping homeless people. I hope he does do this and it does open up some eyes.
Good luck son!
Watch reruns of "Renegade" starring Lorenzo Lamas
OP, why don't you ask Gabe Jennings about the "glamorous" world of drifting.
And the hobos who ride the rails will REALLY be accepting of a college boy with a video camera....oh yeah!
