just spoke with adam a little while ago...he tells me that him and al sal have parted ways due to al sal's obsession with mr.oregon(galen rupp). adam will now devote the majority of his time to basket weaving and running a puppy mill, where he will try to make up for the funds that he has missed out on after dodging the european racing circuit over the past couple years due to explosive diareah, heartburn, and a compulsive disorder that makes him believe that sharting on people's faces is an appropriate way of sayig hello in society
I heard he was buying everyone drinks after the marathon and clearly he must have had too many Irish car bombs before he said he can still run a sub 13:00...

he never has run a sub 13 for 5k, 3 miles maybe.
I think if it was going to happen it would have happened by now. His mishandling of injuries has put a huge damper on what could have been a great past couple of years.
Sub 13 doesn't just happen, there is a reason why only one other American has run that fast. Even if he is in 12:5x shape he needs to get into a race with perfect weather, perfect pacing, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if he has another year left in him to run fast but I don't think sub 13 fast.

I saw a runnersworld video of him in New York last month. He said, "I want the American record in the 10K. I've still got a sub 13:00 5K left in me."
Is he just fantasizing now? Adam Goucher is one of my favorite runners but he's had a mediocre year and he's old.
Is he done?
The mere fact that he's talking like that indicates that he is, in fact, done like dinner.
Salazar has been ignoring him as he is focusing his attention on Kara and Rupp. Adam is in no-mans land with his running career right now and is starting to build envy and resentment. Hard to run fast times when you are not emotionally stable.
Andy
Poor Adam. He surely had the potential to run under 13:00 had everthing gone right, but I doubt he'll run under 13:10. He did run 13:10 two years ago(?) on a stress fracture though, but that was two years ago. His 10k performances have not been great considering his 5k PR. AR 10k is even more unlikely than 13:00 5k.
All that being said, I hope he proves all the doubters wrong (myself included).
Go Adam!
He's sure not done everything perfectly, but I never have understood why anybody would pull against him. There are very few Americans with the career he's put together (Foot Locker and NCAA champ, winner at Olympic trials, making an Oly final, even the 13:10). And this from a home-grown product who has never had a hint of scandal. He may be getting a little long in the tooth, but I'd rather see him succeed than almost any other elite we've got these days.
No way Goucher goes sub-13:00 at this point in his career. He could still run a 27:30 and focus on a solid marathon over the next two or three years, tops. He won't ever break 13:10 even, at least not cleanly.
Listen, Adam Goucher is a whinny spoiled brat. The guy is a freaken nut case who's attitude is selfish. He's al;ways been about himself. He's never been on top of the world so I don't know why he proceed to acts so.
Aside from all the endless, jokey insults about Goucher, has anyone actually heard anything serious about his plans or activities recently?

Evidence?
I hope he does go sub 13, or sub 27:30 or 2:08 or whatever he chooses.
Was a huge fan when he was in coollege, and early days of his pro crareer. Not that I root against him now...but he's earned a reputation as being a self-centered jerk. That may be fair, it may be unfair. But you never that stuff about a lot of others (Kennedy, Teg, Lincoln, Cragg, Torres, etc.) Sometimes that (and/or the connection to the occasion AlSal/Nike sliminess)is all a person needs to root for someone else.
Maybe his future is in the marathon. Could he run 2:06? I'd like to see him make the 2012 team in something.
Or maybe he can take up pole vaulting or the javelin.
Based on the 2008 results, womens discuss is pretty much wide open. Perhaps he can make his mark there in 2012.

Have you guys ever watched Adam Goucher run? Tell me how that style is going to translate over 26.2 I realize he ran some fast 22 milers at Colorado, but the guy does not look like he could run a fast marathon. Just doesnt seem all that efficient when compared to a Ryan Hall or someone like that.
Raindeer adam goucher,
Please dont give up, you are my favorite runner.
As a youngster growing up I fantasized about being you out there on the cross country course. If I could only run 21 miles at 5 30 pace in practice I thought to myself many times. And now I dream of one day being able to sire a beautiful woman as you did, but I also have a crush on your friend gallen and I am really confused and scared.
Please dont tell him I said this, my mom will kill me.
