maybe he is past his prime, maybe not; but I think he realizes that he will never be in the last 2 laps of a world class 5 or 10k, no matter what he does. A hard reality when he looks at the talent coming out of east african countries. However, he could become 'Tim Culpepper' and cherrypick races for prize money the next few years and do pretty well. If healthy, he is still one of our top 5 or so runners, for whatever that is worth.
Exactly; you gotta love these races with big time 'American only' prize money. They do a great job of encouraging people like Culpepper and maybe now Goucher. American only money should be like 1-2K tops; just enough to help guys buy some new shoes, some extra calories of food, and travel to their next race, while they aspire to beat Africans.
