The standards used to be basically the same as qualifying for the NCAA championships or pretty close to the national championships marks. But since the distance crews are small they have relaxed those standards some.
I think they get like 4 pairs of trainers and 2 pairs of racing shoes, no, 4 pairs of trainers for a distance runner is not a lot, but it not nothing. Like I said before there are performance based levels as well.
I am not on the team, but know a lot about it. So you don't have to take my word for it, but it is a team worth looking into. It is a good option for the midwest, and really all it takes is 5 guys (or women) that want to train together to make a good distance club. Indy is a good place to train, and it is a respected team among meet directors. I know it is not the best club out there, but I just don't like to see people bash clubs that are trying to revitalize the club system.
Hopefully people go to Indy for the XC Nationals in February and see what a great place it is not only to train, but to live.
