3200m in 9:01? Add snow, ice and it's a time trial. This is crazy good. Check it out at...

Nice work. Alaska Kids Kick Ass! (or is that Alaska Girls...)

I remember his dad, Marcus, won the coaches race at FL West at least once back in the '90s (not that it was a big deal).

I almost had the opportunity to go to Kodiak for a day this week for work, but it fell through. Conditions don't look all that good for faster workouts there, but looks like he's getting it done.

What's he doing running a time trial like this right now? Save it for regionals.

At a guess (too lazy to look it up), I would suspect that AK's season ended some weeks back, for reasons that may be obvious. Dunbar's probably running the trial for exactly the reasons that he stated at the beginning of the video: to get a feel for racing, after some weeks' hiatus.

That video really awoke memories of coaching college track in Upstate NY. There were a couple of meets where the snow was so thick that, if you wanted to cheer when the runners were away from the homestretch, you had to look at your stopwatch; calculate about where they'd be; and then holler in that direction--snowing so hard you couldn't see see the backstraight.

Kinda like that old indoor track at the University of Rochester: you'd lose sight of the runners for quite a while, and when they came back into view a lot of places had mysteriously changed.
tough call

not to take away from it, but I bet he really wishes he had 2 more seconds in him. Look for him at Arcadia.

The state meet was on the first weekend of October. With FL regionals coming up a 2 mile time trial is not a bad idea as a tune up.

it's too bad footlocker regionals isn't at woodward park anymore, German's record might fall! though coming from snow to California won't be an easy transition.

My bad. I didn't watch the video. Obviously AK would end the season early. Best of luck to this kid.

Why? Will 65 deg. with no humidity be difficult running conditions?
