The Seattle Times reports that Kendra Schaaf will sit out Saturday's NCAA West Regional meet...probably a smart thing.

...and yet, UW may still go 1-5.
Go Huskers ! The WOREshington Huskers will kick some ass !
Rested from Regionals she might be able to hang with Sally Kipyego for 4k, before she burns up.
This girl is an incredible talent, but seriously, would Metcalf really tell her to go after Sally?
definitely a logical move as other team-mates get to go in a big meet.i really doubt metcalf will send her after sally at beginning to avoid a blow-up.i'm sure they're aware of other greats in the field;nine to be exact

UW is very, very good. However, I think the Pac-10 meet was a bit of a perfect storm. Oregon ran horrible at that meet. UW would not have gone 1-5 at regionals even with Schaaf in the lineup. With Schaaf in the lineup at nationals I guarantee they still won't go 1-5 on the rest of the west region.
She might as well try and hang with Kipyego. Even if she were too blow up at Nats and not be in their top 5 they would more than likely still win.
Actually,
Every runner for oregon ran faster at Pac10s than they did at Dellinger except for Kozinski. UW girls had 4 under the course record so get over it UO apologists!

That doesn't change my opinion that they ran poorly at Pac-10. Different day, different race (4 weeks later). Four Ducks placed close to their 2007 NCAA meet places at the Pac-10 meet. I will come back and say I was dead wrong if Washington goes 1-6, or even 1-5 on the rest of the West Regional, and specifically the Ducks, at nationals. I'm not saying Oregon will beat UW this year. I don't think it will happen. Again, I'll admit if I'm wrong, but I am very confident that UW doesn't have 6 runners better than Oregon's #1. As good as UW is, which I believe is near the top all-time, I think the Pac-10 meet is giving a distorted view of how much better they are than Oregon. Obviously you disagree.

LOL... UO denial!
Grelli ran slower at Pac-10 as well.
Ran poorly(OU) not!!Got "shell-shocked" at the steady steady velocity---yes.Look @video and how wasted Scherf and Blood looked at the finish line.Whether they can come backup in 22 days who knows, but it shall be MUCHO better for them w/out Schaaf. This can be a "false positive"leading to the Natl. meet
Remember thee who pushes @ Regionals unless one must to get in to the dance pays HEAVILY at the dance
I saw Grelli running today!! She was CRUISING!

Shell shocked is a good way to put it. I think Oregon let themselves be demoralized by what Washington was accomplishing. My read is that Washington was much better than Oregon expected, and that this took many of the Oregon girls out of their race. I also think Oregon was a little rusty while UW was primed and ready to go. I still think UW will win easily at nationals. We can debate this until we're blue in the face, but I will be shocked if UW puts 5 or 6 in front of Oregon's #1 at nationals. I don't know what else there is to debate. We'll find out on the 24th.
Kendra Schaaf will not run at NCAA West Regional because of achilles tendonitis. She's been on crutches the past three days. The crutches are just something to help it heal faster; she can walk and even jog a little. She is hoping to be ready for nationals.

That's funny, Coach Metcalf just made a statement that Schaaf was not injured. Who's lying, you or him?
hackers will be hackers
Melissa Grelli will not be running for Oregon tomorrow. Vin is letting her rest a sore foot and isn't worried about the team qualifying for Nationals. He could hold out several of the girls (and the guys, for that matter) without worry of going to the NCAA Championships.
Has Grelli been injured? She looked so fit at the Pre meet(first meet) but looked like a different person at Pac-10. Really, I didn't recognize her.
Wait, what?
I saw Grelli running today and she was cruising and looked very fit/fast (I live near Palo Alto and I assume all the teams are already here for West Regionals)..
