Actually Durkin is at Stanford.. for which running did play a role in her enrolling there I'm pretty sure.. just that Tegen didn't know she wasn't planning to run.
But she said she might start running next year once academics are under control.

If you went to Cornell, then you didn't match her academic success there Andy Bernard.
reading comprehension must not be a strong suit of yours. nobody claimed that nj was loaded with top 10 or top 25 girls every year. what someone did claim was that 10th in nj would be 1st in most states. since you have a lot of free time on your hands and you want to refute this, why don't you post the 10th fastest nj time in the 800/1600/3200 and then post the fastest times in 25 other states that are faster than them? something tells me that 10th in nj is faster than 1st in states like north dakota, alaska, new mexico, etc. it sounds like someone really needs to get a life...

Well, let's see:
Top of my class, one of the top 100 SAT scores in the country, U.S. Presidential Scholar, accepted to (and turned down) Stanford and Caltech--yeah, I'd be willing to bet that I have at least matched her academic success, at least to this point.
I certainly hope that, once she's *in* college, she has more academic (and athletic) success than I did; but it looks like we're on the same page so far.
Yeah, I guess I'M the one who should be working on my reading comprehension.
For someone with the handle of "Crimson" I'd expect a bit more. Or maybe they've continued the time honored practice of "everyone gets an 'A'".
Considering WELL over 100 students every yr have a perfect score on the SATs I'd say this is bullshit & in all likelihood so is the rest of your post.

haha, you're right, there is likely fuzzy math there.
Probably derived from the "US Presidential Scholar" award, 2 from every one of the 50 states? Hmm, maybe not, DC and PR, etc may be in there. But the state and gender selection in the Presidential Scholar award makes the claim bogus on that basis. Maybe BRF will help us out here if he's not too bored.

Gosh, that *would* be true--
If I hadn't taken the SAT before the 1995 recentering, and even before SAT scores all started ending in zero.
If you really care, you can give Google a workout. I scored five points higher than Ben Stein (allegedly) did and one point lower than James Woods (allegedly) did.
I understand it may be different now, but BITD PrezSchols could pretty much go to any school they wanted--I was one of several who chose Cornell that year.
In other words, you probably shouldn't prejudge someone's HS stats based on the college s/he chooses to attend. People make (or should make) school choices based on other things besides rankings and prestige.
seriously- her Dad's a major league a--hole- no doubt about it- hopefully she'll come back into her own at Harvard- I don't think boobs and hips are a major factor- i do think her consistent injury pattern has allowed her to put on some lady lumps that will melt off with some training. Great luck to her.
why would you expect more? you created a strawman argument and someone called you out on it. your most recent post is even more pathetic because it doesn't even address the inadequacies of your prior post and just says that i need to work on reading comp with no explanation why.
would you please show where someone claimed that nj has packed in the top 25 nationally. i'll also give you some help with nj times. 10th in nj last year were 2:14/4:59/10:51. now hop to it and show us which 25 states had someone faster than those times.
I never read so much stupidity in my life. Pretty clear some people never healed from the beating she put on them. Some angry coaches, some embarassed kids, and many moronic adults. Lot of pain out there and a tinge of jealousy maybe. Hey, whatever make you feel better. Congrats to the family. Great job raising their kid.
I wanted to second this post and ad my two cents, but know people will disregard my opinion because I have known Briana's dad for 40 years as a friend. All this banter is from people who need to get a life! No one is a perfect parent, but I would take Roger and Jan Jackucewicz as my own parents without a second thought. If people could experience the affection that Bri has for her dad, the raving would stop. Bri is one of the nicest, most intelligent and socially mature young ladies you could ever want to meet. I don't think that happened by accident.

Well she didn't seem to be struggling too much today. She ran the whole 2nd part of the race by herself on a windy day, 1st was way ahead, and she was still 5th fastest for the day. 18:48 on a day where people were running much slower than earlier in the year. Next week will be interesting.
To sure, really...
I could have written your post down to every sentence!!! I'm female, was two-time state champion, and a Div I conference champion. Only difference was I didn't get the physical abuse, just lectures for 3+ hours in the living room (not allowed to leave) about how awful I was after a poor race or training run or just out of the blue for no reason. It took me almost 20 years, when I started my own family, to realize how messed up my father was and how abnormal his behavior was. As a child, I unfortunately didn't know any different, and then as a young adult, I was too much in a state of denial that my father could have been that bad.
Anyway, don't really mean to start a new thread...just wanted you to know that you aren't the only one with that experience and same feelings as an adult. I'm sure posters are probably going to snicker, make jokes, etc but your post provided some comfort to me in knowing I'm not the only one with a poor relationship with their father due to running.
Brianna is by all accounts a daughter anyone would love to have. She is smart, attractive and well-mannered. I have known her since Leisha was the "hurried child". (Anyone rememeber when she was running races, crying, withe Dad on the bike? I do.) Having said that, I was at road races 11 years ago where Brianna was racing and Roger WAS acting like a maniac. He was not a welcome sight at the registration table. Believe it.

Almost anything negative you can say about BriJac you could have said about Scherf during her senior year in high school. I don't think there is any reason she won't run very well at Harvard with one exception. She may decide there is more to life than running fast and choose to explore those avenues...
