Exam their whole movie career. Which one consistly is tough talking, tough acting, and carries that macho stage presence?
Has to be Clint Eastwood. No one, even the Duke, comes close.

Pink Cadillac did not exactly help.
Sorry, I'm going with Charles Bronson. Check out the movie Hard Times.
John Wayne first, Clint Eastwood second
Charles Bronson.
Bruce Lee
Charles Bronson was in a movie called "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Clause". It was a movie about him convincing a little girl that Santa is real. That is pretty tough.
John Wayne was a pussy. Real name was friggin Marion, that's a girl's name. Toughest has to be Sly Stallone. I mean, Rocky (got the piss pounded out of him many tines) and Rambo. I love Clint but Clint only had a .44. Sly had friggin rocket launchers and boobie traps, knives and bows and arrows to take out choppers. Probably next was Arnold. Bronson ranks up there too, madd trapper and all. And Bruce Willis.
Yakima Canutt
I think Bruce Willis plays a great tough guy, but he was in Moonlighting, and a bunch of soft roles. I forgot to mention Shrek and Popeye.
Yun-Fat Chow / Chow Yun-Fat, hands down. Watch 'Hard Boiled' and 'The Killer' and you will agree.
chuck norris. no question.
Lee Marvin..........
The toughest movie actors were: Jimmy Stewart, who unlike, John Wayne, actually fought in WWII, saving countless lives and earning numerous medals for gallantry. James Arness (for you younger ones, google Gun Smoke, in fact, some of you might have to google WWII) won the Bronze Star for action at the battle of Anzio. Jason Robards served with honor. Henry Fonda served in the Navy. Alec Guiness and James Doohan (Scotty, star trek) both landed at Normandy. Donald Pleasance was a POW and tortured by the Germans. Eddie Albert (green acres) was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism. Charles Durning was awarded the Silver Star.Charles Bronson was a tailgunner on B-29's.
Bruce Willis was dumped by Demi Moore. Hmmm...
Toughest real actor and tougest movie character combine: Charles Bronson
Toughest movie characters by one actor-Sly Stallone, Rambo and Rocky
Ralph Macchio
Your post doesn't ask the question that I thought your subject heading did.
The toughest actor, as I can think of it, was Massimo Troisi, who delayed life saving heart surgery so he could complete "Il Postino" and then suffered a fatal heart attack the day after filming was completed.

Steve Mcqueen led was pretty tough in real life and did serve in the marines. I'd say he is right up there with Bronson for the combo.
