it is obvious that smoking is not going to help your running in any way. But the better question is how much it will hurt your running. I think that the more important thing is that smoking will always be better for you than drinking. This is because
-drinking dehydrates you
-drinking is associated with partying and staying up late
-drinking can give you a hang over
the negative to smoking is
-can not be good for your lungs
-can distract one from true goals
-can get you i trouble
The benefits to smoking are
-lets you find a balance between the crazy runners who only live the life, and normal people who party often
-gives you a great! night sleep
-makes you feel good
-release from stress
I would have to say that the pros to smoking do not outweigh some of the cons, but lots of he cons do not outweigh the pros. That is why i think that finding a balance of doing it in the off season, and doing it several times instead of drinking during the season it justifiable.
