Seems like they make a lot of trips all across the nation, to Europe, they went to Beijing, they were at Mt. Sac this weekend and so on. How do they do it? Who pays them and how much do the writers, etc. of Flotrack get paid? Are they that rich that they can fund it all out of their own pocket..? |

I can't speak for who pays them, but common sense should tell you by now that they are indeed funded and/or using venture capital. This is how many sites, especially in the web 2.0 era, do it. Remember that track & field is not their only venture, as noted by the sites below. www.floswimming.org www.flowrestling.org www.gymnastike.org www.purefight.org You have to hand it to them by being at nearly every event. |

a bit odd. iv'e had several vc funded companies in my time, and have funded a few myself usually in the middle rounds. if ft were vc funded i would think it would have been formally announced long ago as vc's all want publicity in order to garner new leads. i have heard that they are bankrolled by family members. |

I know a lot of meets will fund their trips. These meet organizers want their meet all over the internet. This is straight from on of the flotrack guys at the Florida Relays track meet last year. |

It took me decades for me to build up the perks and now I have it pretty good. FT/RS/TS/etc. are young folks and it will take time. Be patient. I do it for the love of the sport. |

Big bro sold a web company a few years back and earned some big money (a couple million). Hey and Mark started up the Flocasts site with wrestling and track and field, with room to grow. Companies like Nike and Saucony are starting to pay for promotional marketing opportunities, while events are flying them in for coverage. They are doing a decent job at growth, but does it make sense for a media company to get paid to cover meets they should already be at? Flotrack has a lot of naysayers in the industry, so it will be interesting to see how they grow over the next few years. |

VCs want fast multiples within 9-15 months so they don't appear to be VC funded. Do they have any intellectual property or proprietary assets. Do they have a balance sheet. From their website, there doesn't appear to be a management team in place with the required "window dressing" of degrees. They don't seem to be a media company as they have no formal external / independent editorial oversight / transparency, and they don't appear to adhere to any standard journalism practices. I guess I could fit them into a public relations or advertising slot. It's hard to simply categorize Flotrack though with 100,000's internet based promotional websites around these days. |

They're non-profit. Their mission is to promote the sport. Shoe companies support them. |

I know that the flocast crew wanted to go interview and do a workoutthing with 1 DI program and asked the parogram to PAY THEM to do it. |

That was funny. No that's never happened - but good try. Would never alienate themselves over something like that, besides, it's hogwash and stupid. |
