5.2 miles on a rolling golf course. Some decently long climbs. Perfect weather. Sunny, dry 60's-70's

Definitely chillier than that and overcast during the men's race, warmed up a touch for the women's race. Probably close to 50 for the men's race.

Perfect racing weather, cool and no wind.

I haven't really been paying attention to Villanova, but is this race representative of how Mackenzie has been running lately? That's much further back than I'd expect from someone with his credentials.

Nova sat two of their top 3.

Ben Guest who was top 10 at Last year Regions and 3:44/8:0x 3k guy Mildinghall

Mackenzie was in top 20 with at 1+ mile to go, unfotuantely race was 5.2 miles today.

He will be okay in 8 K races, not at 10K.

He has never really been great over xc but I would have expected a bit better from him. Tough course?

last mile is all basically uphill. it can break you if you're just trying to maintain

So if Villanova takes second at regionals and Penn State is third, would PSU get an at-large point?
I've been out of college for a few years and can't remember all the details, but I seem to remember losing teams have to run a certain percentage of their top 7 for the win to count for somebody else. I could be completely wrong though.
And yes, I realize the probability of PSU taking third at regionals isn't all that great, but anything could happen.

Another stellar performance from Sam Borchers:

235 Samuel Borchers, So 28:22 5:27 Penn State

So... Penn State has a good race and you have to be negative... Have to love the Haters out there... Sam has run 401 in the mile - how about you?

Where has Papazian been???? He would make Nova the top 25 team that everyone seems to think they are right now, but he hasn't raced yet this season! They've definitely been sucking it up the last few races without him...

christ all migty, I hope that wasn't the wake men's a-team. that team wouldn't be competitive at many state meets.
bring it on home

There is clearly more in play with Borchers than just not being a good Xc runner.

MacKenzie is a 4:00.x miler who never ran XC well either and he is over 2 mins ahead of a Borchers, and Mackenzie did not even have a good race.

Borchers is over 3 mins.behind the winner at 5.2 miles,I don't care whether folks think he is an miler/800 guy or not. You have to be able to do better than this.

PSU ran well here, sure would be nice to have a 4:01 miler in your top7 at least? They are good, but not that good that he should not break in at that level.

seriously if you can run a 4:01 mile, that kind of time is ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!!! sam get your head out of your butt you probably got beat by kids who can't even run under 4:30 for the mile. that is sad.
hahahaha
