So when do people start asking questions about Iona?

They had one guy run well at their home meet and they basically only had one guy run well at this race.

Are they holding out any Africans?

Does Santos get the blame if they are not successful - or has Byrne spent time the past few years looking for new jobs at the expense of recruiting.

A few people used to criticise Byrne - but he used to send out B teams which would never lose to teams like Cornell (no offence to Cornell but they are not in Iona's league).

ask them when they run a full squad, which they wont until Pre Nats, and get whooped...

Sheridan didnt run, Okuti didnt run, Mo didnt run, and probably a few others didnt either...they would have won the meet if they stacked their crew...

Wisco didnt run Withrow and a few others either...

I'm impressed.

Iona ran just one (Ledwith) of their most likely top five and he had another fine race (with both his shoes on this time as opposed to last year when he ran about 7K with one show and took second to Curtis).

Wisco looks real strong since Eagon and Withrow didn't run. The 'Cuse ran all their big boys and showed that they might make it hard for Providence and Iona to rest any of their runners at Regionals (and still manage to automatically qualify)

I heard it has lots of down hills.

Where is Andrew Lacy this year? Last year- All Big Ten

the reading comprehension of the people that frequent this message board never fails to amaze me.

I understand that they did not run a full squad but under Byrne they would also run half a squad but seemed to have more depth than is currently the case.

Either way - even when they run a full squad I do not see them making much of an impact at Nationals. They have three potential All Americans in Mo, Ledwith and Okuti - but Sheridan and whomever the number 5 guy is will be big question marks at Nationals - 9 days after running a hard 10 k at regionals. Iona does not have the depth this year to sit guys at Regionals which is a luxury they have been afforded in the past.

Again - not sure who should get the blame when they fall out of the top 10 this year - Byrne or Santos

If and when they do fall out of the top 10, I am sure you will be on here with your vast knowledge blaming someone.

Last year there was 1:20 or so between their 5th and 6th man at NC's. They lost 2 stud seniors, so it seems to me after adding those they held out in that they are doing just about as well as they should be doing and actually seem to have a bit more dpeth than is usual for them. Not exactly the time to start pointing fingers.
