new rankings are up... not much movement. A few new teams getting some points. Didn\'t look like anything special happened last week in the results.

Looks like we will finally get a look at the Rochester Area schools this week with RIT and U of R competing at Oswego and Brockport respectively. Hopefully one of these teams will show that they deserve to be in the mix.
agreed
men: looks like from the top 10 only ithaca plattsburgh and nyu ran...ithaca had a good pack and probably ran controlled...plattsburgh looked almost exactly the same as a week ago...nyu didn't look so good
women: from the top 10 rpi plattsburgh and ithaca were in action...rpi ran not so fast when you convert to 5k times 20:15 (1 girl) to 21:30 (5 girl)...plattsburgh improved rediculously from last week
last week...19:11 (1 girl) to 21:07 (5 girl) for a total time of 103:05
this week...19:05 (1 girl) to 20:20 (5 girl) for a total time of 100:03 (36.4 seconds faster per scorer than last week)
Shamus Nally will be the FTW the Atlantic Region this year.

My prediction:
Kosgei is the obvious choice for first place not only in the Atlantic Region, but also in the Nation. My prediction, which might shock some letsrunner's out there, is that the St. Lawrence freshman (a countryman of Kosgei) will progress with each race, each practice, each workout, and will end up taking the # 2 spot both in the region and at the National Championship.
1. Kosgei
2. Kiplegat
Where do you think Nally excels in relation to Kosgei? Kosgei has no weaknesses at this point in his career. 1:48 in the 800, 8:43 steeple; he's got the speed and the endurance. Nally is an exceptional runner, don't get me wrong. It's just that Kosgei would be in the top of the pack at nationals this year at the DI level.
Nally should shoot for 3rd behind Kosgei and Kiplegat.
Kosgei is probably going to win but Nally is definitely the better bet right now to beat Kiplegat. Kip got beat by Heymann already this year and Heymann didn't even make it to nationals last year. I could see him improving a lot (seems like the furriners always do that) though not enough to beat Nally.

what about seth dubois seems like a likely contender to be in the mix with that group and could easily win
who is blake?
I believe Mark Wetmore once said--You could build your car from the ground up or you can go out and buy a Ferrari, the Ferrari will win every time, but it won't get any respect at the Saturday night races."
My vote is for Nally.
the classy guy from the new haven 20k
But are teams like Hamilton and St Lawrence really "buying" athletes? Hamilton has been a member of this Kenyan study program for years and I believe this is the first time they've had a Kenyan athlete on their xc team. I'm not sure about the St. Lawrence Kenyan, but why is it so hard to believe that he's simply an international student? I doubt the St. Lawrence coaches went on a recruiting trip to Iten just to find this guy.
Whether or not Kosgei will win nationals, let alone the Atlantic Region is not up for argument. He's so far above and beyond the rest of D3 that is ridiculous.
Cortland is a great team, but no individual on the squad is going to match Kosgei.
One thing I keep thinking about is...how do the Ithaca runners get back to school if they run straight miles?
I think that Kip wont be the best Kenyan on the SLU team. Jeremy Mwenda was 2nd behind Ramsey at their Alumni meet. The first thing he said after the race was, "I thought that was going to be harder." Considering Ramsey ran close to the course record Mwenda could be good. It was also his 1st cross race. And before everyone starts saying how slow they ran let me just say they beat Jon French who is in nasty shape. He ran a 2:30 marathon in May.
In addition why doesn't anyone think U of R will be good? What guys did they lose? Some of them had okay times in track. After track I thought they would be able to put together a good team by running as a pack...atleast able to compete with Ithaca and Plattsburg. Plus now with Mark Stevens gone the team can focus on running fast and not looking super chill before, during, and after races. People who think Dan Ramsey is over rated have seriously missed Stevens constantly being considered a top tier runner.
Plattsburg was impressive to me at the Battle of the North Country. Good for them. Ultimately I think they were just a little sharper than the SLU guys. I did lose a little respect for the coach when he said Donohoe was 4th last year at Nationals. If you're going to compliment your own runner by piggy-backing on another runner's acomplishment at least get it right (he was 6th). Heymann will be fast though.
Cortland and Kosgei FTW.
Someone who knows DeanLauer21 should tell him to wear an under shirt.
What a major mistake! If your going to bash a coach, at least spell the name of his school right (Plattsburgh with an h).Who is "sharp" on August 30th?If Mwenda is that good they can have 4 guys up front on any given day and possibly be better than Geneseo and a top 10 team in the nation.

I wasn't trying to bash the PlattsbrgH coach, I was just saying that if he was going to use Donohoe last year as a benchmark for Heymann then he should get the stat right. Like I said before the team impressed me. And, honesty, what I meant when I said "sharp" was to imply that they might not have run as many miles as the SLU guys did this summer. I thought that might be a nice way to put it.
And as far as spelling goes...I'm Mike Jones, you think I even finished high school? And...you better not have no brothers THAT'S a mistake.
In addition Dan Ramsey isn't over rated, he has a ginger as a girlfriend. There's a difference. Not to mention half the people bashing him couldn't run a 15:15 5k let alone a 30:3x 10K...including me.
I agree he should get the stat right...but why do you think Plattsburgh runs any less than St. Lawrence?...do you know how the SLU guys trained this summer?...I'm trying not to be a dick because I'm genuinely curious
this forum is about the atlantic region not who Ramsey is dating. their is no point to bring her up and is incredibly disrespectful to call her a ginger. if your going to talk about wendy, talk about how she can build upon her strong freshman season.
okay, why are we still talking about SLU. as far we see it Plattsburgh is better than SLU, unless their coach told them to run controlled. So as far I see it as of now, they're not worth of noting until they can prove to me they can race with the big guns, beside Ramsey who definitly can run with the big guns.
does anyone know who is or is not going to the Pre-REgional meet at Saint Lawrence on September 27th?
If so, who is holding out any top runners?
Also, has anyone heard about whether or not Hamilton is still in the NYSCTC? I know they are a part of NESCAC, so can they be in all of those conferences at once?
Well, without calling you an idiot (or maybe I just did, either way), why don't you do a very small bit of research about your questions.
1- SLU is hosting pre-regionals (and regionals obviously)....so why don't you go to their website to find information. I know that one was hard.
2- No clue, but I wouldn't be suprised if Cortland didn't run everyone.
3- Hamilton has been a member of both the NYSCTC and NESCAC for many years. Check either conference website to see this.

Plattsburgh is much improved over last season but NOT better than SLU....what are you smoking? Look at the results, SLU won by 8 in a duel, and they didn't have Mwenda.
