Did KHANNOUCHI start the Falmouth RR? What happened to him?
Did KHANNOUCHI start the Falmouth RR? What happened to him?
I was wondering the same thing and just saw this:
"Former two-time winner Khalid Khannouchi withdrew yesterday morning when he woke up with an upset stomach"

It's always something. A blister. A tummy ache. Waa Waa Waa.
Just happy he isn't part of our Olympic team.

How many times has a tough guy like you broken 2:05:00
he didn't say he did, but Khannouchi always has an excuse. and I agree, I am also glad he isn't on our Olympic team. He could never show up when it mattered. His shining moment will always be when he won that massive London race, but besides that he hasn't done crap on the Championship stage. And that will be his legacy.
and your legacy is bashing a former world record holder on an internet message board when you can't even run his marathon pace for one mile.
Yes, he hasn't done crap.

No doubt he is an incredible talent, but it doesn't seem like he does anything for the US - after he was in such a hurry to get his citizenship.
All of those results had pretty big paydays, plus appearance fees.
Still glad he isn't representing the US. He might wake up on marathon morning with a pimple or something.

Ah, pimples, at least we know for sure you are finally talking something you are an expert at.

And exactly when did Khannouchi break 2:05:00?
Sorry, dude, meant 2:06:00
They sped up his naturalization process so he could compete, and once he becomes a US citizen suddenly he's full of sub par, DNS, and DNF races. I too am glad he isn't on our olympic team. Not that he's not deserving,or that he hasn't proven himself with some blazing times, but rather I simply don't feel he'd come through. And no, I may not be able to run a mile at his marathon pace, but hey, I used my real name.
Dear Scott Beach,
You still can't run ONE mile at his marathon pace...
yet you critique him.
he's on the start list for New Haven Labor Day - where he set the wr in 20k.

Ah, the "you´re not allowed to bash somebody who is better than you" argument. Stupid, as usual.
Some criticisms of KK are justified, but he made up for quite a bit of it at the Trials, where despite not being at his best, he ran a courageous race, moved on the leaders, and scared the bejeebers out of Hall.

no, you're assuming the wrong argument. The real argument is "don't pretend to know everything that goes on with a person(Khannouchi - a person that can run sub5 for a whole marathon) who is living in a totally different world than you(you - someone who cannot)".
That is a totally valid argument. You don't know what it is to be an elite runner, so stop criticizing them.

From a post race interview: "When we went by the big video screens at 16 miles, I saw that Khalid was trying to move up on us," he said. "He's such a dangerous runner. I didn't want that to happen, so I decided I should press a little."
Perhaps "scared" is too strong a word, but Hall was certainly cognizant of the lurking KK.
