Yes you are correct. The travel is sometimes too much, and I wont be getting on an airplane at all for 4 weeks before my autumn marathon, and the ride to the marathon is a nice cushy ride in bidnuss class, 5 days before the race. I was really tired at that marathon in Italy in March, having traveled from Bangkok to Tokyo to Reno to Belgium to Italy in the previous 2 weeks. That and the previously mentioned shoe problem added about 3 minute to my time. Not making excuses, because I chose my travel schedule and my shoes. I am responsible for these mistakes. Jason |

You focused on the "hot/humid" not the time. You were wrong and are now trying to deflect. |

You focused on the "hot/humid" not the time. You were wrong and are now trying to deflect.[/quote] What does it matter? I just suggest a good place to train and then I get nothing but negativity. I've improved A LOT since moving to Bangkok in 1999. |

dude for real get off Bangkoks d**k. we all understand that you think its the greatest place in the entire world to train and it makes the most sense and there stupid to not travel half way around the world to train in such an awesome location. the fact is that there are cities just like it in the united states which would be more failure to both coaches and athletes. there is no reason that you have to pump your city up this much man. you need to really calm down about bangkok. to be in a city that is better known to the athletes is better than going to a city that is closer to the race. they know where all the training spots are and how the land and city is laid out. they can wake up and go do a work out instead of waking up then asking around for some trails than having to find said location. but no one said that bangkok was the worst city in the world and should be eradicated. they just said it doesnt make sense to train there right now and you started freaking out. so chill man cause rupp wont win a metal anyway, or even be close for that matter. |

Arent you all missing the forest for the trees? It takes this much effort, time and money to train someone to finish what, 10th at best, while the Africans can run thru the woods and train at altitude and show up and win? Should we even be at the Olympics in the distance events, much less talking about someone who has no hope in hell of being competitive? The brutal reality if distance running is it really is for the very, very talented, and all the hi-tech training cant get you to the gold..or even close. |

For somebody who talks about missing the forest for the trees, this post is pretty ridiculous. 10th place in the Olympic Games is a f***ing amazing feat. Well worth every effort the kid has made, and all the high-tech gadgets people on here cream over. Give it a rest. |
