Strange - the pace was too fast for Willard, she couldn't even stay with Jen.

Wow, and Twell the just turned 19 year old runs 8:58. Wasn't she faster than Hasay at Hasay's age?
Just shows how overhyped some of these high school runners are, considering there are definitely better people across the world.
Adidas should give Sara a 5 year extension for that.

Jen Rhines is AMAZING, an astonishing athlete. I can't remember seeing a female veteran with really no reputation for speed, improve so dramatically on her closing ability, such as Jen has done over the last couple years. Kudos forever Jen.

Willard has run 4:06 for 1500 and 2:02 for the 800 (also can run a 53ish 400). Not good enough for you?
And since your post comes across as slightly misogynistic, how many American men steeplers could have run (and be competitive) in the Olympic Trials in both the 1500 and 800 as Willard could have?
The Russian steeple world recordholder came back a day later to run something like 14:43 for 5000, so...there's one steepler who's not too shabby.

actually it was 14:33 for 5k the day after a 9:08 steeple, her steeple record is 9:01.

Twell is still 18 (born Aug 1989) and ran 8:53 last year as a 17 year old and 9:07 in 2006 when she was 16.
Not quite as good as 16 year olds Genzebe Dibaba or Sule Utura of course.

It is good to point this out. Anna seems to be a solid runner at various distances with our without barriers.
Both of those "16 year olds" are really about 25.
