Chris Nelloms from Ohio. He still has high school state records in the 400 (45.?), the 200 (20.?), and I believe one of the hurdle events as well. Currently he is incarcerated for a LONG time (I'm thinking 15-20 yrs) for a sex crime involving a 14 year old girl.
Obea Moore.
Steve Magness
Abdirizak Mohamud
Amber Trotter
::::::::: ditto Chris Nelloms.
how much of a waste of talent was Magness???
Victoria Chang
DANIEL KOMEN.
Seriously.
He was incredible, obviously, but we never saw the best he could have done.
Rodey Haley
Ryan Hall
William Reed
Earl Jones
How do you define waste? People who **** their talent away by making bad decisions or simply athletes who didn't pan out, which could include psychological issues, injury, etc?
Bad decisions:
Obea Moore
Roy Martin
Injuries:
Dathan Ritzenhein (so far)
Jeff Nelson
Scott Fuqua (I swear this guy could've been one of America's best... despite injury, he torched Nurani Sheik, who finished fourth at Footlocker, indoors)
Saif Said Shaheen (so far - why hasn't he run more 5ks?)
Psychological issues:
Jim Ryun
Vince Cartier, Vince Cartier (National Indoor HS Mile Record Holder)
4:06.6d ........... Vince Cartier (SP-Fanwood,Scotch Plains, NJ) 72
Shannon Butler
ritz has qualified for two olympics... calling him a waste of talent is ridiculous. what have you ever done?
1) Obea Moore
2) Ian Alsen
3) Michael Granville
4) Casey Combest
5) Jason Casiano

Oh for god's sake. The man sets world records at age 19, medals in the OG with what was maybe the third- or fourth-best run in the history of the 1500, comes back from injury and illness to be in great shape at the next OG, where he's tripped (no, he didn't trip himself a la Mary Decker)--and these are psychological issues? This is a guy who didn't "pan out"?
Boy, just once in my career I'd have liked to coach someone whose career was as big a "waste" as this guy's.
Sheesh.

I don't think he fits here, it's kind of like Noah Ngeny. Great runners who had major success, but who know how good they could have been if they'd had the long careers of a Geb or El G.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
