You would think AK would want their new found athlete who has the potential to break the world record and win $1M USD to go right ahead and achieve these rare feats but what do they do? they instead recall her back to kenya to olmpic training camp.Do these people really understand what goes on in the athletics world? Jelimo has already run 1.54 she does not need there sort of training what she need is to be given support and specific training to win the goden league and break thw world record. |

Athletic Kenya's priorities 1.) Athletic Kenya member's main interest are to fatten their pockets as much as they can 2.) secure their jobs 3.) govern their athletes during Championship years despite best interest of their athletes. |

No I would not think this. |

It is a no-win for AK here. If they give the managers a free reign and allow the athletes to burn themselves out on the circuit then fingers are pointed at AK when the Kenyans don't perform at the Olympics. If they call the athletes into camp (something more akin to what the Ethiopians do all the time) then people say they are corrupt for not letting the athletes race. There is a LOT of corruption in the Kenyan system, but as far as I know these officials (of AK) are not lining their own pockets by keeping athletes in camp and preventing them from winning the big paychecks. |

Jelimo is right now one of the few athletes still in contention for the 1 million payout. If she was to offer the officals some of her prize money or if they were eligible they would waive her coming to the Kenyan camp in a spilt second. It's not often that athletes are up for such a payday and in regards to the Ethiopians they automatically selects their top athletes to one event- why can't Kenya do the same for the this years undefeated 800m runner Jelimo? |

To manny I met Jelimo in Oslo last week and I told her to keep up until she gets world record,I didnt know she was going home when she was close to get world record. We need world records to boost women in Kenya as it happened to men, after I broke four records in 1978. On the VIP dinner speech, I mention about the Golden opportunity the Kenyan athletes get in European running circuits.I can see the world records in our Kenyan women, but because of evil doers in sports administration. Kenyan athletes will have hard time progressing from their art God given talents. This is not going to change until the runners themselves change the Rules. They stop in 1982 in Oslo and they still keep on doing it up-to-Now. When you talk about world records I get so upset about it,when someone stop you from hard work you have done and when you are about to cash in your money, here is the devil coming across your feet. What do you do? I dont like it. Henry |

My sentiments exactly Henry concerning Kenyan Athletics and its athletes. I don't think Jelimo can break Jarmila Kratochvílová 's (Cze) 1:53.28 world record this year as is she is still 1.71 seconds off (close to 2 seconds). I do think the young Kenyan can improve on her 1:54.99 personal best again and I would love to be wrong as I think it's time someone broke that 800m WR. |

Yeah, you are right,I saw her in the early morning warming up.She was warming up with me in the morning and the morning warm up was not enough to losen up the body. But I couldnt mention anything to her.All I did was just look at her,and say , "Good morning Jelimo and good luck today!" that is all. I know because I used to warm up in the morning with Mike Boit and I know the amount of time she needed. All she needs is to warm up really good and she get the record that is it.It is that leap strides along with breathing muscles in the lungs. I know what I am talking about. Henry |

Yes you are right, Jelimo is better off to ignore them and keep running. As Henry says, cast off that devil, so the feet are free and keep running. |

I don' think she's going to miss any Golden League races. She'll run the Trials then come back to Europe and do the Rome Golden League. They talked about keeping her out of Oslo but she ran there, so they're not preventing her from winning the million. |

To JR You got my point. You work hard for the million dollar job and then all of a suddent someone trying to put shackles around your feet,NO!NO! there is no compromise here.I am not a prisoner, free my feet and you will see world records. Henry |

Henry Rono:- Jelimo can break the record, she has the ability to do so anytime soon .i believe her coach needs to plan for the record assualt very carefully i.e getting the right pace makers, the right specific programme incorporating tapering and choose the right venue.Personally i would suggest CRYSTAL PALACE as the ideal track.I appreciate what you say about her lack of proper warming up and respect yourdepth of knowledege and expirience but believe me she has the potential now,it is now the coach's challenge. As for the AK's pre-trials camp:- I think it will suit a minority of the athletes.Majority of them have pretty much adapted to training and racing in europe at this time of the year and this change may not bear well in the long run.I think AK should have just trusted the athletes and their individual managers to prepare themselves well for the olympics perhaps they could have just monitored them closely but just leave them to their own devices. |

I think Jelimo has the talent to break the world; however, this year maybe too soon for the young Kenyan. The world record is 1.72 faster than her already impressive personal best of 1:54.99. Jarmila had 47.99 open 400m speed when she set the 1:53.28 WR. At this time we don't know what type of 400m speed or endurance Jelimo has and dropping 1.72 seconds in an 800m run at that level is much more difficult than people think. |

To levin Get WR first and then AK with Gold medal comes second. Why because AK take what athlete have and trush them later. They dont help them from the get go.We all know that. I want our Kenyan women get the WR NOW!!! Henry |

Henry Rono:- you are a well reknown and respect athlete especially by the kenyans, alot of the gys running the show in the AK are your agemates and were probably proffessional athletes when you were breaking world records why don't you educate them abit .iam prety sure they would value your advice.Coz they have so far been shocking on how they can mismanage their athletes.Whle at it you could enlighten them on some of the outsatidning kenyan athletes based in the US e.g Sally Kpiyego and how they could be of very good use to them if they kept track of their progress and gave them the right sort of support. VIPAM:- have you heard of the expression HURRY SLOWLY? if i were Jelimo's coach i would plan for the record this season coz an athlete sometimes never gets the second chance. You see Jepkosgei could have broken the record if she had gone for it last year but now she may never do.So i say 'strike when the iron is hot'. I hope Jelimo will go for the record at crystal palace coz it is a fast track.Last year Asafa powel ran 9.76 on it. |

To levin Let me tell you something. They are married to the system and once someone is married to the cult. You can't dare to give an advise to some one's spouse. Infact they are not allowed to speak with me.Even those athletes I met in Europe last week, they are not suppose to talk with me.You know why? You are putting your hand in some ones wallet. It is that bad. Henry |

levin Despite Janet Jepkosgei outstanding year last year, she was never in a position to threaten Jarmila's 1:53.28 WR. Although she struck and set the pace in her races a rabbit could have helped her to mid or low 1:55 but the world record. Henry I don't think Jelimo is capable of the WR this year. Just because she's run 1:54.99 solo doesn't mean with a pacesetter she can shed 1.72 seconds from her 800 pb. We're talking about 2 seconds at that level in an 800m race not 5000m. Can she break the world record? Yes. Can she do it this year? Probably not but I seriously hope I am wrong! |

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but how legal was that 1:53? Some of these women world records are mighty suspicious to me from 800 up, minus that marathon by Radcliffe. |

AK is the most useless national sporting org on the planet. They are inept and corrupt and its a wonder Kenya can ever win medals with this bunch of idiots in charge. They have always been a disgrace. Most Kenyan runners are sick of AK and its so called coaches. |
