Very impressive race. Abdop ran 57 high for the last 400 and battled back from third with 100 to go. Suarez did a good job rabitting through 2400 meters. 59, 63, 62, 63, 62, 62. The wind really was not too bad. 10 knots maximum and only a headwind for 50 meters on the first turn. I hope the adidas folks can keep this distance race as part of the meet in future years. |

The finish to the 5k was great! Too bad that more people didn't show up to watch (I counted 40 people in the stands) and that there wasn't a bigger field. Plus, no announcer or scoreboard to say who was running. However, definitely a good move having the race in the evening as tomorrow is going to be brutal. I wouldn't have known about the races tonight if it hadn't been for letsrun.com. The meet website had nothing about them (besides start lists) as far as I could tell. Thanks letsrun! Also, got to see the coveted Letsrun.com jersey in action! |

Forty people in the stands? No announcer? No scoreboard? Two events tonight ( 800 and 5,000 ) and the rest of the meet sunday? Is it me, or is something wrong with this picture? This is put on by USATF? Those poor guy's came all the way from Ethiopia to run a time trial by themselves? I thank the athletes for a great effort. |

Dejen Gebremeskel, ran a pretty impressive time. He is a brand new runner. He ran in the junior cross country champs and finished 18th. Now given that XC may not be his strength.. this is a big big debut for the young guy. He is 18? Originally from Northern Ethiopia.. tall skinny runner.. He may be one to watch ...
