Sell won overall in 1:14 something, close to what Cabada ran here two years ago.
Damn no dice! If Cabada could do it as a college kid why can't Sell do it? He's tried twice!
Maybe he is training for a marathon or something.

Geb would disagree that 25K and marathon training are mutually exclusive.
That's everybody's excuse for everything..... Ritz dropping out, Sell running sub par.
The only marathoner not offering up excuses, and by the way kicking ass, is Ryan Hall. All these other guys should learn from him.
Nice run anyway for Sell. National titles of great.
Sells time was 1:15:08. He was a full minute a head of second place. Nice run sell.
I can run that for a half marathon....oh wait he would be 4k a head of me.

Great news for the hansons- they could do with some good publicity lately- looks like their hard work is begining to show- just need the other team members to start proving themselves, not just relying on Brian.

Hall kicked ass when he ran a marathon. His only other race, xc nationals, wasn't particularly inspiring. Racing well at other distances while you are preparing for a marathon is very difficult to do. Like Hall said, marathon training is hit-or-miss. There are times when you feel good and other times when you feel horrible. Trying to line up the timing of those feelings with under-distance races is virtually impossible.
Nice training run for Beijing!
Sell looked very strong with a large lead over two Kenyans. Cabado in 4th. Two more Hanson in 5th and 6th.

They had 4 in the top 10. Morgan and Snyder kicked the asses of guys like Gilmore and Schoolmeester. It looks to me like other Hansons are doing just fine.

I believe in '71, '72 and '73 Shorter won xc nationals in November and Fukuoka (the de facto world marathon championship) in December.
Not the best American mark for 25km this year. You might check the split at 25 km for London -- 1:13:47, which would have left a 1:15 more than a quarter mile in arrears, despite there being another ten+ miles to the finish
What were the weather conditions for the race?

Did Sell offer up that excuse or are you referring to the above posters?

Since when is Sell "offering up excuses"?? You really need to get your head out of your @ss and stop confusing what 18 minute 5k'ers spout off about on this message board with what Brian Sell thinks, feels, or might say.
nice run, but who the hell cares about a 25k time trial on the track? Nobody. Just a good gauge of his fitness now. Like a good workout. Good for him.

Water Rat, where you at? I missed you this morning, were you at the finish?
Whoever asked about the weather, it was 50-55 degrees, sunny and no wind, so ideal conditions for Sell and the rest of us mortals.
And this race isn't a "25k time trial on the track", it's got plenty of hills between miles 8-13. An honest course and not easy by any means.
