that must be the Barry Brown, who in the early and mid 70s was one of the big guns for the Florida TC along with Frank Shorter, Jack Bachelor, et. all? If I recall, isn't Barry Brown deceased, as of a few years ago? If so, it's a shame he wasn't here to see his son run a sub 4 minute mile. Funny thing is, Barry Brown was not even thought of as a miler at all; but a good steeple chaser, X-C guy and road racer.
Nice.
Pretty good for Darren since he was the second best runner on his high school team and 5th best in his district. I hope he is able to keep running and see how good he can be. Speaking of his high school running, it looks like Klein HS has 2 and potentially 3 trials qualifiers for the 1500 that were all there at the same time. Pretty cool.
Thought ya'll would enjoy Darren's thought on being a part of the father/son sub 4...

great moment for him
Wow, great video. I was a little misty eyed watching it. Somewhere Barry Brown is smiling.
Powerful stuff. Thanks.
I watched the video. Darren Brown is a class act, and a great human being. His character shows through in that video. I'm very impressed. Go!!!

What amazing interview, I am tearing up here as well.
I find it rather suspicious that an athlete from UT runs a 3:59.99(How convenient) and Trey Hardee(Texas Ex)after furter review gets a couple of extra points in the Decathlon. Didn't something like this happen last year, too?

You are an idiot.
Here's the evidence smart ass: http://www.flocasts.org/flotrack/news.php?id=1652
As I watched the race and saw the time come up, I knew that this kind of debate would come up regarding Darren's time and the small margin that he broke 4:00 by. For that reason we went to the timing booth and had a copy printed by Delta Timing to post on Flotrack. It is an insult to all of Darren's hard work that you would insinuate his time was not legit.
Yes, last year Trey Hardee's 100m time was adjusted after a review the race. I am not sure of the circumstance under which that happened but I do know Delta Timing would not ruin their reputation to help an athlete. I am not familiar with how the NCAA records are kept but I would assume all records would have to be ratified so Trey's marks would have to be looked at again.
As I said on the other thread if anyone would like a copy of that picture in higher resolution send me an e-mail and you can see for yourself.

Nice, I was just going to post this.
I think that he was better than 3:59.99
Sorry Sam, but congrats to the Browns//
Didn't Barry Brown commit suicide? I seem to recall that happening years ago. If so, it gives even more meaning to some of Darren Brown's post-race comments. This would make for a great feature magazine article. Kenny Moore would be the perfect guy to write it. He's the best track writer there is and he probably knew Barry through the Florida TC.
