Word from Jason via SMS:
Verran went for the win, then at about 30km he dropped off the pace.
Jason was going at 3:14/km until 34km, had to stop to tie his shoe, then couldnt get back with original group.
shut.up.

1) probably faster than you. and it's even more likely that i have run shorter distances faster.

2) it does not happen "all the time." if you know how to tie your shoes, they will NOT come untied during a race.

3) wow, you know the work "infantile". that's cool.

4) jason is a perverted idiot.

There is a big difference between losing a shoe, and having it come untied. Your shoe should NEVER come untied during a race...but if someone steps on it it can come off which is usually what happens.

I dont apporve of him calling him a f... whatever. But he is right that anyone who knows how to tie their shoes correctly should never have them come untied during a race.

In cross or crowded track races I always wrap tape around my arch/counter to keep the shoe from coming off. Why don't elites figure this out?

for years I have read and waited for this Jason fellow to actually do something that justifies all the noise he seems to make, yet today was just another result would be good for a Top woman marathoner.

I read somewhere he had run sub 2.20 but what is all this adulation about?

.

A) you're right
B) Bekele didn't let his shoe incident hurt him in a much shorter race, but somehow Jason's untied shoe hurt his performance in a much longer race. So thanks to the other posters for bringing up bekele as a comparison, it makes Jason look even sillier
C) Jason always has an excuse.

Other than that, it was a good run for him
