Yuk, that didn't turn out good for Mcdougal!
No sprint at all for McDougal, I was rooting for Quigley in that last 400 but Songok and Korir blew his doors off.
How do you watch video?
did you all register?
sean quigley top american....stud
I like how that idiot from Arkansas in last doesn't even move out of lane 1 when he's getting lapped at the end there. You'd think when you're getting waxed and feeling sorry for yourself you'd at least try to move out of lane 1.
Songok is dangerous in the last 400m of any distance race he is in contention. Double NCAA Champion (he won the Outdoor 10,000m in 2007). Not too shabby from Flanagan at Corpus-Christi, which is perhaps one of the worst places in the USA to train. Kudos.
Quigley ran great. McDougal just didn't have it tonight.
The race just wasn't fast enough for McDougal. He had no chance over the last 400.
Songok looked really strong. Has to be a big favorite to post some fast times and add to his list of titles this spring.
I was able to watch it fine without registering.
Now I could be mistaken, but was it Barnicle the stayed in lane 1 and Quigley got tripped up on?
Or was he the Arkansas guy on the final straight?
Would be interesting if it was Barnicle, both being Mass guys.
Either way it is great to see Quigley doing so well
I don't think pace had anything to do with McDougal not winning. He looked so flat at the end he had no chance no matter the pace. Must be in the middle of a 140 mile week or something. I'm sure he'll bounce back from this though.
Heavy mileage guys seem to have trouble peaking properly. But didn't McD botch the 5K last year but do well in the 3K?
flanagan got shadrack, but he was an 18 yr old already running 28:30 10ks
Fuond it: McD was 8th in the 5K, 3rd in the 3K in 2007
Quigley is a high mileage guy... he always seem to peak right. beat mcd 4 of the last 5 ncaa meets. 3k tomorrow.

McDougal does have an NCAA championships though. Today seemed more about tactics than anything else, why McDougal did all that leading and was only running barely under 14 pace is beyond me. He needed to throw the hammer down at 1000 or so and just burn everyone but he waited and he doesn't have the 400 speed at the end to cover what those guys could throw at him.
Michael Kilburg, ballin' out of control to finish 6th! Dropping a 2:42 last 1k to move up from ~10th. Another 120-140 mpw guy peaking well. 6th is unreal, props Killer!
Who the hell is peaking for indoor nationals?
Get your priorities straight, kiddies. It's March.
Call it a mini-peak then. Can't speak for Quigley or McD, but I've heard Kilburg "only" ran 110 this week, with a light/moderate workout on tuesday and a 15+ miler the day before the race. I imagine Quigley, McD, and most of the other high milage guys did the same kind of mini-peak. Their all just gonna keep training with the big peak for outdoor nats.
didn't mcd still run 130 miles the week before ncaa xc?
something tells me he probably ran even more than that leading into indoor nats.
