Anyone have any news?
Anyone have any news?
Might as well bump it...I'm waiting too!
J Brown seems to be dying a slow death, no split updates for some time now, look like he may have dropped, heard he was a little under the weather.
bib #2 2.07.23. maybe the winner but I am not sure
The Swiss guy who won bronze at Osaka last summer won it in 2:07:22. Fujiwara of Japan second in 2:08:40.
What was his bib number?
Too bad if it happened as you said...maybe Ottawa for him?
58 sec PR for Rothlin. Consistently improving.Good considering he had to be evacuted from Kenya 4-5 weeks ago.

Do you have the top 10 list? I looked on the Tokyo website but I can only see Japanese text.
Thanks
Top finisher list, mostly in Japanese:
http://sankei.jp.msn.com/sports/other/tokyo_marathon127.pdf
1st is Viktor Rothlin, Swiss NR
13th is Daniel Njenga
16th is Basel Ohau (sp?)
24th is Samson Ramadhani
27th is Erick Wainaina
Jon Brown was far behind when I saw him and didn't look very happy at the finish either. I think I saw Meyeroff too.
Japanese results:
2nd is Arata Fujiwara (unknown guy)
4th is Toshinari Suwa
5th is Satoshi Irifune (PB)
Top 5 were under last year's winning time.
Yeah Brett I think I heard you scream at me about 29km just past the Asakusa gate.
I stuck to my game plan and Exited Stage Left at 34km. My marathon will be in April. I was injured all January, and I've only been back running for about 10 days.
I saw Rothlin at about 30km and he was looking very relaxed at 3:00/km.
I would like to run this event next year, any advice on tour companies from the USA to Japan that I should try or avoid? Thanks!
I don't know about the ones you should avoid, but I used the JTB land-only package, which includes race entry and 4 nights hotel in a decent hotel right by the Race Expo and Finish Line. They were very helpful and professional.
Price was US$750, and I just used a frequent flier ticket from Bangkok to Tokyo.
JTB is "Japan Travel Bureau" the largest travel agency in Japan.
I wrote up a profile of Arata Fujiwara, the 2nd place guy who ran a 30-min PB, with some video.

Fujiwara's race should not suprise people..the man obviously has worked his ass off and to go from 2:38 to 2:08..awesome!!! I loved reading in the article where they were not even paying attention to him in the race, just the guys they new about, the commentators were saying the same thing about all the guys who were leading the Olympic marathon trials too...abdi this, meb this...till Sell, who was nowhere in site shut them all up...gotta love the underdogs!!!
