Funny to see your name on a forum - cheers lboro. My 2000 run was a 5:14, but it was certainly bested in 2004 by the Wild Boar and since by Chris Parr. Think this year's LSAC race is on youtube or something similar, maybe laneight.com? Anyways, fun times. And as another poster pointed out, it's about strength, not speed. I'm was slowpoke compared to everyone else, but the third pint and lap is where the race is won and lost. Not surprised if a Keska has broken 5, Doug Gillon of the Glasgow Herald newspaper reckoned it was there for the taking, but beyond my abilities. Also, would be interested to hear thoughts on the 355ml from a can / bottle versus 568ml from a (plastic) glass. Quite a difference, easier in someways, tougher in others. And as a final mention, the Chunder Mile in Scotland ("run like thunder 'til you chunder") began as a the final event of a Hares and Hounds Running Club (Glasgow University) decathlon back in 1984. Am too young to remember who won!
