Great run by Eddy Lee. Respect to you!
Give it to the haters, dude.
Did you all read what Eddy wrote about the OT? Well, now you won't bet against him as readily as you did before.
Thankyou for your perspective. Many best wishes for many more goals to be reached. Your insightful persistence will be a great resource for my first Boston Marathon. There's lots to be learned here.Looking forward to reading you, tpcb

I'll continue to set goals, and I hope all of you do the same. I haven't decided what my next goal is, but an olympic trials standard has always been on my mind.
We have one life on this precious planet, and I hope each and every one of you reaches for the stars. I see threads pop up once in a while about people asking if they should hold off their careers to focus on running and a possible olympic trial berth. I say go for it. This is our sport. This is what we love doing. Follow your heart. Follow your dreams. Make your dreams become reality.
Eddy, you're wise beyond your years. Like Jonesy said, we all grabbed onto the dream too and so far it has been a thrill. In any event, I'm still at it... I managed a 4:14.87 last Thursday and anticipate further improvement before the season ends. Staying tuned and keep on!
No, Seriously, why didn't you get his on video?
Someone seriously needs to make some Eddy Lee t-shirts. I'd purchase one.
congrats eddylee!! i know i read this thread when it started but haven't checked in since maybe page 2. went back to mid 60s and read the rest of the pages.
im impressed / jealous / inspired. i was the same kind of runner you were coming out of hs, but never made it happen the way you did while in college. maybe i'll kick my ass into gear now.
awesome job! good luck with future running, whatever you decide to do!

I think I read this thread when it was originally posted, and then now. I always saw the title pop up with thousands of responses and thought, gee, this guy is the best troll ever. But I always wondered if he had broken it yet, and hoped that he would. Especially since he's on letsrun, a place known for burn outs and cynics. Congratulations on accomplishing your goal, Eddy! Now what?
Chicks dig Eddy Lee because he rarely wears underwear.
She wants to party with you, Cowboy!
Congrats Eddy Lee!!! Now set a new goal and knock it down!!
So, does he stop now? I really, really want to know-- it's been bugging me for days

Of course not :) why stop?? One life, one chance. Let's make the most of it.
For those interested...

For the rest of the week, we have a short, though extremely intense, sprint workout today, pool workout on Wednesday, 4x400 w/1min rest(faster than 1500pace) on Thursday and 4x200s on Friday. Race Saturday...running 15,8.
I did an easy 30min run this morning, and I'll do another easy 30min or so on Thursday.
Cheers, fellas!!

I don't think very many people were hating on him or doubting him. I believe that he ran 4:01 last outdoor track season and he is a 21 or 22 yr old college guy on a college track team, so it's not like he was trying for some impossible goal. If he were 25-35 yrs old and starting out at 4:17-level I think people would have been more doubtful.
I do think people got kind of sick of the constant rallying cry from others who were at 4:15 for 1500 and also the workouts posted every day. Also the training was lame at some points and just stupid/crazy at other times. You are always going to have to endure criticism if you train like that and make it public.
A Nationals/OT qualifier used to be ~3:42, so if he can improve ANOTHER 17 seconds in 2 years he will be in the hunt.
