There are only 2 states who have never produced a single Footlocker finalist, Arkansas (surprise!) and Delaware. The reason is they have to compete with the "Big Boys" in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. There have been numerous Delaware runners who would have qualified over the years if they ran against the South at the regional. Come on, the boys from Salesianum HS have won 31 state titles in the last 40 years! Are you telling me a school that can win 31 state titles can't produce a single Footlocker finalist? As for the girls, Tatnall and Padua Academy would both certainly have sent a few girls each if they didn't have to compete in such a tough region. The South gets clobbered every year anyway; adding Delaware can only make things a little more fair for the South. Watching South runners finishing at the back of the pack while better Delaware runners are sitting at home year after year is getting old. For that matter, give Maryland to the South, too. They need all the help they can get.
