Did I miss a press release somewhere stating that Ed Eyestone's legs were amputated? If not, why are we now on page 3 and his name is just coming up?
Paul Pilkington from Weber state. That guy is still fit
NAU coach Eric Heins (head coach) just ran in the Olympic Marathon trials, he'd be up there.
Berryhill from CSU gets my vote

Sparks would likely only win a contest for coach most likley to fit through a keyhole.
Pilkington isn't the head coach at Weber, but I think that he still counts as he has been coaching for long enough and isn't a pro just being an official assistant coach so that he can still run with the team. A definite on Ed, although he has slowed considerably since his first few years as a coach when he could still out do his athletes in repeat 1000's.
Is is just limited to coaches whose teams are at nationals?
Gary Towne from Chico State (ok, i know it's D-2), but he has raced against collegians this year at the santa cruz wharf to wharf. he ran 33:21 for the 6 mile race, a hot, rolling point to point race along the california coast. he was 43rd. pretty impressive to me.
Hard to bet against this guy

If we are limiting the race to head coaches with teams at nationals, Robert Gary would win easily (especially if its muddy or snow). He'd be no worse than 100th in Monday's race.
I saw Fagan with a clipboard at Regionals last weekend in Boston for what its worth.
Your mom had a clipboard as well, then she got down....I mean she put the clipboard down (too?).
If there's an assistant's race, how about Kelly Strong at Washington?
Andrew Roberts
DOes it have to be a Div I coach b/c I think there is a young fast chica coaching at Western State...BTW this is a great, imaginative, and funny thread. Thank God for something a little different on these boards...
In Div. II Nate Jenkins has been the assitant coach at UMass Lowell for 3 or 4 years and just finished 7th at the Oly Trials Marathon he'd have a shot.
Dave Smith of Oklahoma State would no doubt win. He is in his late 30's and still a beast. He can still run sub 4:10 in the mile to give you an idea.
Ok, so what he have here is Gary Reed, Allistar Cragg, Kevin Sullivan, Ed Moran...others? Is Torres back to assistant coaching at Colorado? Would it be likely that Teg and Solinksy are volunteers at Wisconsin?
If Teg and Solinsky are volunteers at Wisconsin I'm putt my money on them in any event except the 10k, of course.

How about John Mortimer -- Kentucky?
-if Kentucky had any guys running in the meet he might win it. Think they only have female qualifiers
