11th place, a 16 yr old, not too shabby.

That is pretty damn impressive. Last years NON 2 mile champion, Matt Centrowitz, ran an 8:40.5, which is worth an 8:02 or so. 8:01 from a 17 year old is pretty damn good.

that is very impressive. he's still got 2 years to better that record.. scary. 8.18 for a 16 year old isn't bad at all

That is massive, good work Ryan Gregson! I've heard that this kid is smart as well... Lets hope he can continue in the sport and have a future as bright as Buster's- or brighter!

Impressive runs by the winner (who has only been in the sport 12 months) and by Gregson- this one could really go places...

Gregson will r under 3.40 for a 1500 by march. That is what a lot of people are saying. Given that he has gotta be close to making a senior australian team in the next year or two.

Lets hope he doesn't go the way of many other young Aussie md hot shots,stuffed up by over zealous coaches,before they get to senior ranks.

Lets hope he doesnt get sucked in to the bideau camp. Its just a shame that aussie athletse have no other option if they want to get in good international races.

he's been with bideau camp for a while and already has a nike contract. 8:01 is roughly an 8:36 2 mile, how does this compare to the us high school all time list

The fastest 2 mile by a highschooler in the US is Jeff Nelson with an 8:36 back in the 70s, then a few other guys in the 8:40 range. I didn't know he already had a contract. That is the issue with the US system; including sports in the school system instead of making them club sports outside of school increases participation, but really talented kids have to stay within the system or they aren't allowed to compete in High School or College.
