I've got several decent sized hills on my daily loop, and was wondering if mapmyrun.com actually accounts for the additional distance that hills add from point a to point b on a topographic map, or if they simply flatten the map to calculate the distance. It seems the calculation would not be very accurate for a hilly run if the up and down of the hill were not accounted for, like reporting only the base of the triangle, as opposed to the sum of its two other sieds as the actual distance covered. I'm not very familiar with how gps technology treats hills. In other words, would the distance calculated for a loop containing lots of hills be as accurate as that for a mostly flat loop?
Hope this question made sense, and thanks for any feedback.
