I know there conference is weak but still amazing hold out 3 of your top 4 and still only score 17 points.
1 17 Iona College 2:06:39.9 ( 9)
===========================================================================
1 Mohamed Khadraoui Jr 25:10.9 5:02
2 Mathew Kiplagat Sr 25:13.0 5:02
3 Chase Pizzonia Sr 25:17.4 5:03
4 Joe Parks So 25:18.7 5:03
7 Evan Garber Sr 25:39.9 5:07
Is their 5th man, Evan Garber, the same kid who ran under 9:00 for 3200m for Mead High School?
Is joe parks a transfer? I didn't hear anything about him last year as a freshman for Iona
He transfered when c.w. post got rid of their track program

yes.
It is a little hard to interpret this. The conference is quite week. The times are close to two minutes longer than at PreNats. Now that course was fast and this one might be slower, but it looks like Parks and Pazzonia, who could not run with Khadraoui at PreNats ran with him this time around -- I am betting that is because Khadraoui ran slower not that Parks and Pizzonia ran better here.
At Big Tens two years ago, Wisconsin could have held out three runners that scored a combined 18 points and would only have scored 18. The Big Ten is vastly better than MAAC and the Iona guys that were held out will not have an average scoring place of 6.
I think the original poster is interpreting Kiplagat as now solid 5th man. How fast he can run in a real race situation, we'll find out over the next few weeks.
looks like iona found their 5th man
Nationals is going to be one hell of a race. Where was Kiplagat?
but Kipligat was only seconds ahead os the other guys, so unless he was floating through, that is not much of an improvement for #5. In fact, this race was probably a trials race to determine who would make the team for November, so #2,3,4, and 5 were probably all out. 25:13 is not a real impressive time, although there is not enough information for me to determine since few of these folks ran hard here and at a 'known' place like PreNats.
You all have no clue what you're talking about. Iona tempoed the race like they've done every year in the past. They run at Van Cortlandt Park so times will be slower. But even at that, it doesn't matter. They all ran the race together. The MAAC conference is incredibly weak on a D1 level. If any of you think they were trying at all (with the exception of Parks, Garber, and maybe Pizzonia), you're wrong. And with Kiplagat back, they have their top 5 and are in contention for the win at Nats.
the glide is right
I ran in this meet, believe me with Kiplagat back Iona has a legit shot at Nationals. Iona's top top guys (Mo-K, Kiplagat) don't run this any harder than they have to. Look back the past few years at the results, like when Richard Kiplagat ran this meet the year he ran 23:50. They run to win this, thats it. Watch out at nationals
look at their roster too, they still havent run one of their kenyan guys, elijah kimeu-imagine they stack that team, they are the only team that can actually give Oregon a legit run for their money if they are stacked AND healthy and ready to go.
