The trials are 4 weeks away, the Olympics are next year. This race is, just this race, lets just wait and see the trials results. A good awakening is stimulation to pride

I agree, but it could have been as simple as he wanted to "test out the pace" in the early going and it didn't feel quite right, so he decided not to kill himself. By the way, remember Weldon talking about his 13:59 5k that didn't feel great mere weeks before his 28:06 10k?[/quote]

wait a second...are you ACTUALLY comparing weldon to KK? this might be the most hilarious post of the week. you are a damn moron.

Get over yourself. KK was a 13:40's/27:47 10k guy.
The comparison isn't off- but the main point is when you are approaching a peak it's sometimes hard to tell you are getting there- and this is true of athletes of all levels.

I still say the guy can run 5:00 miles for the marathon in 4 weeks and makes the team.

I say he CAN run 5:00 miles for the marathon in 4 weeks, too.
But I say he DOES NOT make the team. With this field, someone is going to make it an honest pace and you will have to be sub-5 to get on this team.
I say Khannouchi hangs with the leaders in the 4:50s, drops back shortly after 15 miles and drops out by 20.

They will not run 4:50's (2:06:44)on the Central Park course.

due to your amazing ability to understand a deeper message stuck in the confines of an idiot's post, i'm sure you understand comparing a 5k performance before a 10k pr on an athlete with considerably less ability than KK is ridiculous. you don't need to explain "the point" to me. as for "get over yourself", you can go f*ck yourself.
