Hi, looking to run a 1:09 half marathon here in a few weeks. Looking to get some input from others, although I have been running for 20 years. I'm curious how many days before a important half-marathon should the last hard workout be. I have tried both with 3 and 4 days rest in between.
My opinion is for shorter races:10K/ 5K, etc. that you would need less rest days, for the purpose of maybe staying sharp, etc. Typically, maybe 2 easy days before a race.
I think in longer races: half-marathon/ marathon, I believe the extra rest may even be a benefit. Just looking for input. I really want to have a great race and get a PR, so curious what other successfull runners believe. The race is on Sunday, final workout on Tuesday or Wednesday? Or does it matter?
