I was hiking last weekend. I lost my footing and as I lurched forward to regain my balance, my knee made a cracking sound. (Both of my knees always make a cracking sound whenever I squat). My knee was slightly sore, but I was not in pain. I continued my hike for another 6 miles or so, at 13,000 feet if that makes any difference.
It is now five days later. My knee feels the same know - sort of sore, with slight discomfort. It does not feel unstable. I am not in pain, but I am aware of this slight soreness. I haven't tried to run since then.
Could I have torn something? I would have guessed that I would be in more pain if that were the case, but I just don't know.
If it makes any difference, I am a 40 year old male, and I have been running for 25+ years. My knees always pop and crack every time I squat. (I think it is hereditary - so do my Dad's). I haven't had any knee problems to speak of.
Thanks for the input.
