The once great Rockford high school coach. What is he doing now?
bump
its Brad Prins get it right..........likely one of the best high school coaches ever
too bad some ealous douchebags had to causea bunchof problems
even after he got their son and daughter in law scholarships to DI schools
Now I was going to correct him on the name....but really, if you start saying that type of stuff....everything could very well surface again.
Rockford can be an interesting town...
I know they are still dominating at sports and the running is OK, but what has happened since more, who is the coach now, are the participation numbers and distance running still going strong and just not any talent? lack of coaching? lack of both?
the new coach is andy martin.....who ran under the prins era and for a short time at michigan....good friends with Webb as well for awhile....hopefully the program will start going back to the likes of the Prins days
Yes, Brad Prins is and was one of the best high school coaches to ever grace cross country and track and field.
And yes, it was a bitter and shameful thing that those families did.
The blaisdales, Harmsens, and Smith should be ashamed of themselves.
They ruined a great thing for hundreds of kids after their kids were already finished.
I was under the impression giving kids Sudafed before races was the cause of the ruining.
the kids were never given sudafed before the races.....
i know, i was one of the kids
he had advil, etc if any of us wanted it. WE HAD TO ASK for it and explain why.
it was never a , "hey you, take this" thing
If someone had a cold, etc they could ask and he may give them something if they needed it.
Just like when a kid needs new spikes in his shoes and he goes and asks the coach for new spikes and the coach gives them to him.
Brad Prins and the NKRC was the best thing going for talented grand rapids area runners and specifically rockford, but Prins helped way more than just rockford kids.
There were kids from mona shores, kentwood, forest hills, etc there.
Prins was a great guy, helped me a ton. He is the only reason I went on to the next level. I will take a bullet for him until the day I die.
Spikes=cold medicine? Really?
not the same physically, but we had to go ask for it, just like many kids have to do for new spikes for their shoes.

My coach was like that. He wouldn't give us any crystal meth unless we asked for it. He NEVER forced us to do any meth. Guy was a hardass.
That he had it and made it available to the athletes is questionable. Coaches should not provide medications to their athletes, especially minors. The runners should have asked their parents, physicians, or maybe even athletic trainers (who have a very limit range of meds to hand out).
Prins is lucky he didn't get sued if a kid with an unknown allergy had an adverse reaction.
Comparing distribution of OTC meds to distribution of spikes is ridiculous.
There's more to the release of BPrins than has appeared here...but it's not worth going into again. He's gone.
One wonders why he hasn't hooked on elsewhere and, indeed, what's he up to now?
