And what about Joe Falcon? He faded from the running scene soon after running a mile in 3:49.3 back in 1990 at the Bislett Games, even though he was on the brink of super star status. What is he doing for employment these days?

Pat was on the 1984 & 1988 U.S. Olympic Team in the 10,000 meters. He was one of the top distance runners in the U.S. and World for fifteen years. He won 12 U.S. National Championships and eight U.S. National Cross Country Championships in a row, a feat that will most likely never be matched. Pat is Sales Manager for Centex Homes and has been one of their top sales people for six years. He has earned several awards including: Regional and Divisional Sale Person of the Year. He has his pilots license and enjoys flying just about anywhere in his spare time.

-joe had horrible achilles problems as well as some bad bouts of plantar fasciitis. he has copached multiple state champions at bentonville hs in ark. he's married, has two kids, and was just promoted as detective in the police dept. you won't find a better person. true and genuine. they don't come like that too often.
I agree with you. Our sport has fine people who could be great role models for young people. It's too bad the media tends to focus on dog killers nad people like that.

The nickname was self annointed. It seemed a little silly.
Pat was always so thin. He's clearly not a runner anymore judging from the family shots on his wife's website.
He was with nike forever and at the end of his career when nike dropped him he went with mizuno. Pat was a true blue nike and was crushed when he was dropped. Pretty bitter about that, I remember.
