I'm staying downtown (post office square) - is there a decent 10 mile run I could do from there?
Thanks!

Simplest is a nice run on the paths along the Charles River. Choose your bridges to run over and you can choose routes from 2 to 14 miles (well longer if you continued on into Watertown.
Here are some links that will help you plan your route. You'll find many more with Google.

It's about a mile from where you are to the river. Going due north should take you to near the Science Museum (at the right end of all the maps)
Ah, yah beat me to it:
If'n yer there fer jus' a day, the Dirty Chuck is yer best bet: scenic (both land- and peoplescape), safe, friendly, and interesting. You can run by some of the boathouses, check out a boot camp morning exercise class, see hobos fishing (or drinking or whatever), head on over to Hahvahd Squa-yah to check the weirdos (uh, students), get a burger at Charlie's, then head on back. PO Square to H Square prolly 10-12 roundtrip max.
thanks - i will go with the charles river run i guess
i appreciate the replies
Be sure to re-fuel in the North End with some outstanding Italian food and a bit of history. If you don't want to go that far, check out B& G oyster House in the South End. Great thing about Boston, you can walk around the entire city in only a few hours.
