That's a significant blow to distance running. I met him at Book Expo America in Chicago some years ago and wish Mr. Parker all the best. I speak for many in hoping he overcomes this critical time and recovers his health.

Holy sh99! I really hope he's done with ATC cause that would be the biggest blow!

What is the underlying diagnosis? Get well soon, Mr. Parker.

I'm not sure exactly what the diagnosis is -- either some sort of heart virus led to a heart attack . . . or a heart attack led to some sort of infection. Or there's something else entirely going on. I'm sorry I don't know any more. In any case, he's in critical condition. The doctors seem more focused on just keeping him alive than in naming the root causes of what hit him.

I hope anyone who has been positively affected by John will send him a message of some sort. When he comes out from the sedation in a few days -- possibly still facing a heart transplant -- an outpouring of love and support from all his fans might do him a world of good.

By the way, yes, he has finally finished Again to Carthage, and it's at the printers right now. Runner's World will be excerpting it in their December issue, and the books will be released right after that hits the stands in early November.

However as his brother I can assure you that as soon as he is able to speak he will be making more bad jokes and puns than we will be able to keep track of. Normally I wouldn't bump, but the recent prognosis is good, so those that haven't subscribed to updates on the links noted previously should check them for encouraging news.

JLP II is the sequel we should really be asking about, and that looks like a release date is soon.
