mopak, That's a wide swath you're into. Cheers. Can't compare on the wildlife, but there was a flock of wild turkeys on the drive this AM. One chose to roost directly above the kennel driving the Border Collie about daft.
Giving the knees a week off. Cross-training via wood cutting, quite spent by sunset each day.
Getting our first measurable snow today.
X-C skiing soon?? Maybe. One small slice from the top half.

8.5 in the AM, one horrible race. I felt like I was in shape so decided to just go with the leader, not thinking it would be too bad. Well the course was wet, and there were some pretty solid hills... and hit the first mile in 4:45, felt like I was going all out. And then I took a seat on the ouch couch. The last mile and half were not pretty.

12:50ish for 4k.

Easy 7 mile shake out just now.

Astute and insightful post on the value of racing with your own bib was much appreciated.
Severe cramping last night to the hamstrings and adductors. Worst "charlie horse" I can remember. Wonder what's out of balance now.
Have a good go on the xcountry race.

Health to you and everybody driske!
Thank-you for the thoughts on the bib post. To err is human, to persevere is diabolical.

today: had a blast of a race! Didn't feel primed up, but still had a blast. About 5.7km, in about 21mins. Ran without a watch, in 5Fs Sprints. Quite slippery grass due to rain, no mud. Could have been all grass but the organizers were "lazy" and went mostly for the main gravelly, earthy paths. Shame. Race highlight was gaining about 20 positions from last year. But it is quite meaningless as not same runners, not identical course, ect ect...

Another moment to describe, was by one of our teary-eyed younger runners (coached by colleagues) who i followed from afar in her race and noticed she practically only breathed through her nose. At one point she just stopped and didnt want to finish. Maybe she is just spoiled, i am not sure, but finally managed to make it to the finish line and not make a tragedy out of it. Talked to the colleagues and suggested to focus on breathing on these young ones. They tense up so badly, their jaws pratically lock up, until they become so hypoxic they burst open and send them in a panic...

cheers all.

A warm hello to all! This thread continues to be the tops! Thanks to all for your positive contributions to our thread. We are now approximately 3 months since the last visit from TT. That's great!

My own running has taken a slight reprieve to mend some not-too-serious boo boos I suffered in a recent fall. I've got a lump on my head and I'm a bit stiff, but nothing a few days of rest cannot repair. I hope to be back on the trails by mid-week.

Keep up the good work, all!

Did a couple of hours on the bike out near work. Mostly farm roads not overly exciting country.
Yesterday I did a solid 80mins in the Tooby forests, nice soft footing, plenty of hills. Late morning and it was pretty warm so there wasn't much out and about. Spooked plenty of roos lazing under the trees and sighted some emus in a distant paddock.

AM:

62:30 (15k). Comfortable, felt pretty good.

Gym session + stretching.

PM:

Rest. Mentally hit the wall during the day, planned another easy run but would have done more harm than good in all likelihood.
Heres my plan

9 AM miles. Going to hit up the gym later. I felt like during that 4k my form and arms were going to hell, and I think this is because I haven't lifted in about 6 months.

I need to get back into the core work.
