Big appointment with the Podiatrist tomorrow. Hopefully I will get the Green Light to start running again.

Plantar Fasciitis is the most USELESS condition...

I deeply, very deeply, regret training in racing flats. I wish I had never done it. Maybe others can do it, but I'd STRONGLY advise against it.

4-mile walk today. Been averaging 1-3 miles of walking
pretty much daily, plus all the damned stretching since mid-June. Aggravating.

Sat. 12 miles on my Bro-in-laws carbon frame Raleigh.WOW,what a difference when compared to our old Motobecane. I would venture a guess that I could hold 3mph faster tempo on the high tech bike.
Sunday, Yet to be determined.
Welcome back crew.

Training for Baystate Marathon, following Pfitz kind of. Low mileage. Long run 17 miles in 2:00:55 ave of 7:06/mile. First 14 at MP in 1:36:40 (6:54 pace). Run was over hilly terrain in a torrential downpour, just ask anyone north of Boston how it was today around 6. Mile 2 was up the steepest hill in my city, steep incline that goes forever, like 800M and the rest were on rolling hills, going up and coming back going down through lynnfield and wakefield. Felt good, I went out way too hard given the conditions but I just stuck with it and got lucky. After 14 I did 3 miles cooldown in 23:53. My stomach feels like shit now but it was a good time. Good running everyone!

40 min easy. It is already 37 days without a day off since I became 40. My goal is 40 days without a day off, running at least 40 min a day.

Gonzo,
i wish you all the best.

May you find the best running "condition" in the truly vast sense of the word.

I am a minimalist (barefoot and/or 5Fs but i have put my xc flats back on recently for a brutal downhill on gravel) and when I talk/write about it, the sense is to share a personal experience. Not to convert. And as you know from reading here it has not always been positive. Neither has my running history, much like most of us I suppose...

Again, i wish you the very best health and running sensations.

Yesterday: 18x100m, barefoot on a soccer field, with 100m "recovery" doing different strides and footsteps: i.e. on heel, inner foot, outerfoot, toes, backwards, and on all-fours feline style, which was brutal and not really recovery at all...

Gearing up for kids athletics in September.

today: AM, with my children 45 minutes mucking about, tag, and throwing this bamboo stick as a javelin (wildly dangerous... but much fun.)

PM: if i get the chance, i'm goin to bolt out the door and stop when i am out of breath...

Thank you "the point could be".

Got the cortisone shot this AM. No long walking for 48 hours, I'll wait until Thursday at least.

I am to continue with the PT until the end of this month.
Flexion on the bad leg has improved from 2% to 15% unaided, the podiatrist wanted me at 12% at least. I surpassed that.
With assistance I can get it to 20% which he said was a "good job". He seemed a bit let down that the PT and stretching didn't wipe it (the PF) out. He let me make the call on the needle and I said do it.

On 8/26 I should get the full green light, after a biopsy for an unrelated issue gets addressed.

Middle Age is dicey, start drinking NOW.

;)

I am thrilled to see our thread thriving with so many positive contributions! It's obvious that TT's efforts to disrupt things have failed again. Too bad for him! Haha.

My own running is restarting at the ground level after my break from serious training. I clocked about 45' easy minutes today in my effort to start building a solid aerobic base. Who knows where this will all lead? Maybe TT will chime in with one of his predictions. :-)

Keep up the good work, all! This thread rocks!

75 Min. Cat-ski, after 2 days off. Left hamstring is tight.
PF, what a scourge. gonzo, good luck as you mend.
On the drinking, you'll have to pickup the slack.
My collegiate bingeing was suffient for a lifetime.

Monday: i managed to bolt for 1hr uphill/downhill, indeed till i was out of breath. Slow start, fast finish

Tuesday: rest

today: bicycle commute

re drinking: hard to beat an ice-cold lager at the right moment, with lime or lemon to make it memorable. That's enough for me.

Gonzo, i hope things work out.

20:00 on recumbent bike followed by stretching. The foot didn't feel as pain free as yesterday until I did a full minute on the PRO-Stretch.

Anyone else use them?

Training for Baystate. Anyone else out here looking for a sub 3 there?
Today was 12 miles medium-long run on trails. It was pretty hilly and the flies sucked but I still managed a solid effort. Time was 1:27 or something.

PRO-Stretch: what is it? (will google-it later)

Today: so i am walking in Villa Pamphili park at 1pm (blazing hot!) and decide to go barefoot, just you know, to keep soles busy... kinda walking, looking where i put my feet, absorbed in my thoughts... and suddenly this runner in the opposite direction thrusts a dust-clouded "Ciao" at me.

So i recognize him from a race when I beat him (and came an amazing-for-me third, barefoot on grass) in the winter.

We share a couple of laughs over his claim that i was bbquing my feet, and so not to stop catching up - he just became a father - i start running with him for a solid, effortless, 45 minutes on what i realized later was totally dried, caked out, cracked, rock solid ground with burned grass, pine needles and gravel all over.

It was awesome. Almost didn't notice. And my feet were fine at the end.

If I have ever had a profund running desire, it is to be able to take off like an animal at will, when scared, or just for play. In this case, to follow a simile.

Then I went to the chin-up bar on the VITA course and hung-stretched to dry after a make-shift shower under the water fountain. "Nasoni" we call them here as in "big noses" of fresh, chilly, quenching water that put me in heaven.

If i dont get injured it should be a great season. First race is going to be a 12x1hr on the track. Looking to beat last year's 14,290m.

Looking forward to Olympic T&F.

Ordered to "walk DON'T run" by my Podiatrist after I pleaded for the chance to jog a mile or two in the coming week.

Today: Physical Therpay including a workout on a ellipitical trainer...interested. 30:00 on the recumbent bike after I got home.

34:53 for 5 miles on dirt roads here today, felt good the whole time, but my left foot seems to step differently than my right. Going to have to figure out what's going on there. Thread has been a very good read, nice job guys.

Good call, RonnieXC! This thread is great and getting greater. We have a good group here and have been sans-TT for a while. Maybe he's gone for good? Anyway, I'm happy to see this thread thriving.

Back on the roads again today. Cranked out an easy 50', though I admit I started to run out of gas at about 45'. I've got some work to do to get back! Reading all of the posts here helps motivate me. Thanks!

Keep up the good work, all!
