The World Champs this year were awesome. 9 days of competitive, tactical races was a joy. I bought the WCSN subscription, recorded the Versus broadcasts, read the forum commentary, and it was all great.
But after putting the stopwatch away for the week, the track season needed to go out with a bang and mix things up. The pacers were sorely missed tonight in Zurich.
61sec out in the men's 1500, 2 laps of jogging in the women's, a world leader forced to to front run the entire women's 800 for a decent time... The only remotely satisfying distance race of the evening was the men's 3000, with some team tactics meant to subdue Lagat's kick; ultimately unsuccessfully.
Hopefully this is a one-time experiment. Bring on Brussels!
