The ways this 18 year old kid runs is much better than even the way Daniel Komen (3K in 7:20.67 and 2 Miles in 7:58) did. His raw talent is much better than I have ever seen. He seemed so effortless in the finals for the 1500. All he now needs to work on is a finishing kick and no-one will see him with 300 meters to go. Although he did not medal in Osaka, we have a star in the making. He will rule 1500 more dominantly than Hicham or Norcelli or even Said Aouita did. This kid is a prodigy. Mark my words. All Olympic and WC medals in 1500 meters from 2008 to 2018 belong to this young man. |

I must agree with you that this kid is something special, I even went as far as to predict that he would win this 1500, although I was wrong I don't think that there is any question that as Kiprop led the final he looked very smooth, in the same way that any of the greats have looked in path to victory. However, his inexperience prevailed and as others had predicted he finished out of medal contention while besting Webb for the second time in these games. While many will call you a "troll" for pointing out what seems to be the obvious (yet unpopular) conclusion, I am in total agreement with your assessment of Kiprop as a future great. Of course he is not American. So let the doping allegations and accusations of falsified birth documents begin. |

You do realize, that he's not Arab, right? Nah, he's extremely gifted; no doubt about that. Always good to see new guys coming up. |

Aouita never won an Olympic or world championship 1500m so you can't say he dominated. Cram defeated Aouita twice over the distance and had his number. Aouita avoided Coe in LA and quite rightly took the easier option of the 5000m title. Aouita claimed he would have won the 1500m, but never put this to the test as he avoided Coe in Zurich immediately after LA. |

That's funny, I was just wondering if there was any suspicion about his age. I'm not making any accusations. Just asking. Even if this kid really is as young as he says, I think predicting 10 years of dominance is really bold. Who has ever actually dominated the 1500 for a full ten years? Anyone? |

Well... El G was certainly at the front of the pack for the better part of a decade. But given his spotty championship record (well... olympic record), I don't think you can say he completely dominated the 1500, only that he mostly dominated it. |

Who could beat Hicham El G.? Nobody could other than the one time Noah Ngeny did. Hicham dominated the race anytime he set foot, just like Maria Mutola did. That you have to accept. But their days are now gone. Asbel Kiprop will do that and even more. I undertand his mentor is Kipkeino, therefore do not expect him to over race and burn out like Noah Ngeny or Daniel Komen (7:20 3K) This is the kid. |

jeez, sounds like a tough task for one guy. don't they give out 3 medals for each championship? realistically i don't think he could win all three in one race. just my thoughts. |

As far as talent is concern, this boy has it..I can only imagine how he will be next yer in olympics! he run 8k XC like crazy and he is as well a good sprinter. Given that he has the height just like Kenyan's Janeth Jepkosgei....he is a star waiting to shine |

could not agree more except for the distance, the man is a 5000 world beater who will also be a great miler too. Tall, fast, strong, brave, in a great group, well advised, young. The future is his, i have not seen someone so destined for greatness since Bekele [and i did lose a few quid cos i thought at 9/1 he was a great bet today] |

This kid is good. Real good. How good? Fancy good! America is in trouble deep with this guy blasting fancy times for the next ten years. Yes, America has only one hope. AJ Acosta is the only American who can out run this Kenyan. For an entire decade these two titans of the track will battle it out. I can not wait! |

Does anybody think Kiprop looks older than 18? He's very young-looking. It's hard not to root for someone who runs so beautifully. |

Yeah, the kid is tall like Crammy and made the final of the 1500m at age 18. He can pick his distance and dominate for the next 10-15 years. Webb has his hands full here. Hey, any chance we can get him to emigrate to the USA? |

At 18 his tactics are already superior to the seasoned Webb. Then again, maybe he just got lucky. |

In the next ten years I foresee this young Mr. Kiprop as an American citizen. Maybe with an American first name such as Steve or Bill so he will be more warmly welcomed. |

Where did you hear that? Present your evidence or stop slandering a great athlete. |

I don't think that Acosta will ever be on this kid's level, did Acosta win junior world XC's or something that i don't know about? when did he break 4 minutes or 3:40 for that matter in the 1500 before he was 19? I don't understand the Acosta hype, can anyone explain it to me? |
