Webbs been sick. Hes on medication for something. Probably effecting him!

Nahhh. Webb looked great and he knew what he was doing and did according to plan. Course he is going to look a little
nervous; he has never been in the position he is now in; to
win it all! You watch. He will be in second place at the 200 mark on Wednesday; (I hope Lagat is in first). There he will be until the 1200 mark which he'll hit in 2:48; at that point there will be two or three guys with him. He has as good a chance as any to take the Gold.
webb's postrace trackside interview was telling as well, he looked like he had just witnessed a heinous crime of some sort, as in: "lets go to our reporter on the scene, who has a witness. . ."
very unsettling.
hope he can pull it together, and recapture his mojo - which has not been evident in japan.

The crime being a fast finish off a slow pace.
AW also looked out of sync on the starting line.
Anyhow I am looking forward to the final!
So Morceli and El G comprise 7/10 of these Champions.
They were a level above their competition...
Exactly what I was going to say, and I'd add that the high placing also indicates the level of fitness brought to the competition, and that same analysis also indicates that Webb can hope for no better than Bronze.
Richard, you are right about Webb not just being AT the back, he was OFF the back. He was constantly losing contact with the pack. Considering the pace slowed to a 64 second lap that is not a good sign. People are talking about the 57 second first lap, well when the pace dropped so drastically How is it that Webb was dangling OTB unless there is something wrong?
Lagat looks good to me. i think in a tactical race he will do well.
Check out Webb's leg...
he ran the fastest last lap of anyone that day.
i just talked to him and he's going to do great ! of course he didn't run the smartest race, so leave it at that. blah blah about "he has a cold, he's on meds, he doesn't know how to run.." this is the final round what he's been waiting for! no playing around.
julia
anyone notice that the spaniard in the background is missing a shoe?
Anyone also notice the Kenyan on the inside is actually INSIDE the rail?
This is one of the oddest pictures Ive ever seen! What else is someone going to notice?
Not inside the rail -- the track just has an effed-up lane 1 line.
Huge props to that Spanish guy for rocking out barefoot. Reminds me of the 1996 10,000. OK, only vaguely, but still cool.
there are times when Webbs mechanics are less then ideal.
Did he qualify?
You should stick to making Pizzlies because you know less
about running than the combined knowledge of a Polar bear
and a Grizzly. Webb's RELAXED pace over the last 300 meters
was a 50 second 400; (and I could even exaggerate a little and
call it a 49.5; but I won't). You just go'n mikka pita and felafel it up on youself when USA kick u butt.
Webb was running cerebral; which is a lot better than monkey
brains over there for dinner on the patio.
webb, schmebb...anyone, besides me, think lagat is gonna win?
Ummmmmmmm...kay.

What the hell was he doing?
he was working through the pressure, getting the job done, ugly or otherwise, nobody gives a crap about prelims unless you are obsessive U.S. Sunday fans who apparently have no understanding of the factors involved in running a high profile race.
Can any of you doubters recall other prelim results and how many times the eventual Oly or World champion looked shakey in the prelims??? Wow, imagine that, only the finals count.
His "lack of aggression" may turn out to be the best thing for him. Sometimes I wonder if any of you pessimists actually ran middle distance because the way you criticize Webb it seems like no one alive has ever struggled with pressure...and I have a hard time believing that any of you fools are ignorant enough to admit psychology has nothing to do with running.
Yeah, the brain is important. In fact, maybe Webb is thinking, "Wow, I've either lost my mojo or Dr. Evil has stolen it."
Lagat or Ramzi for the win.
If you look at Webb before the race started it look like something was wrong with him. He look really tense and tired like it was almost sick or something and too me he seemed like he was a a little fatter to then when he broke the AR, I think that there is something wrong with injury wise and he hiding because he wants to try to show everyone that he has. He was holding back at all, he had to fight for the 5th position.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
