Wejo, I agree with everything you say, but if you are not around who is going to decide say, what total crap is, or useless or what an attack entails, who will decide that? Are you going to come up with specific guidelines?

You are giving moderators a lot of power and as we all know, they have some mysterious thought patterns and very large egos.

They rightfully delete racial slurs and porn, but why do they also hack up harmless thread like the "riddle"? What criteria will they use to determine who is banned? Will Jason be banned for talking about his love life? Will Spelling and Grammer be banned?

We might have to sacrifice some of our favorite trolls, but overall I think it's better to have some form of registration.

I don't see anyway around me being able to figure out who the poster is registered as (if I look). I'm not sure how much of a concern that is.

But currently I can to some extent see every post you do now under various names as long as it is from the same computer. So it's not like you have total privacy as is.

But let me know if it is too much of a concern that in some ways your posts are not truly anonymous. But they aren't now either. The only difference would be in the future they would be tied to an email address. If someone was really concerned they could set up another email address.

I say full registration. Once you choose a handle, you cannot change it. That can be used in Discussion Board A. Keep a second discussion board B for the way things are now.

I'm at two full-registration boards, and they are great. This won't become Runner's World.

No, there are some situations where it in necessary to post with a different name.

First, I support the registration idea.

Second, is it possible to ban users from a particular computer? It's easy to get around a banned user name because you can just re-register with a new user name and email address. It's much harder to get around if you can't use the same computer connection any longer.

I'm for this idea, but not full registration. That's part of what makes this board fun, is when you get posts by PA's Right Nipple and all that.
